Chapter 31

Gene had barely turned in time to see Aph throwing herself at him. She was screaming at him to get away from Aaron as her body slammed into his knocking him off his feet. As he scoots away from her the front door opens and he turns to see Katelyn, Garroth and Melissa walk into the house.

All hell breaks loose as they cry out in alarm. Gene turns back to Aph to see Aaron holding her in his lap, his hand clasped over her arm and blood dripping from her fingers and covering her clothes. He glances down at his clothes and then at Aarons and is horrified that while he has blood on him Aaron doesn't.

Melissa rushes to help Aaron as Katelyn and Garroth roughly drag Gene to his feet. Katelyn gets in his face until he can feel her breath on him and screams at him, "What did you do Gene?!"

Gene looks back at Aph and then glares at Katelyn, "What do you mean what did I do? I came in and found Aaron forcing himself on her! I was helping her."

If he thought that would make Katelyn back off he was so wrong. "First off, I heard what you said earlier so forgive me if I don't exactly believe you. Second, I know Aaron would never hurt Aph let alone force himself on her. Even if he doesn't remember her she's his Shu. They are also engaged Gene and I've walked in on them kissing so many times I've lost count. If something was going on between them I have a feeling Aph was an equal participant and does not need your help. I understand you might think you were helping but until Aph tells me I'm wrong you are only helping yourself."

The fight leaves him as he watches Melissa work to bandage Aph's arm. His chin drops to his chest and tears fill his eyes knowing Aph might never forgive him. "He doesn't deserve her. She deserves to be loved and to know that she's loved."

Garroth sighs and gently rests a hand on Gene's shoulder, "He does love her Gene and she knows it. He's just a little lost right now but she has faith he'll find his way back. She believes in all of us. Katelyn and I were under that bastard's control. Katelyn beat the crap out of her, I almost killed K.C. and Zane but Aph never gave up on us. You made a mistake today; Aph won't hold it against you. She'll be a little upset with you but she's still your friend. Don't walk away; don't distance yourself from her because that will hurt her more than anything else you could do. She hates it when her friends aren't happy."

Gene nods and releases a shaky sigh, "I hear you Garroth. I love her, you know? It's hard to step away."

Garroth chuckles, "You're preaching to the choir Gene. I've loved Aph since we were kids, Laurence too but when she fell in love with Aaron we knew we had to let her go. Well, maybe not at first..."

Katelyn rolls her eyes, "She almost put a restraining order out on you two. Look Gene, if you love her let her go. We lost a lot of good friends at Starlight and knowing Aph she feels responsible. Be her friend because she can never have too many of them."

Gene looks back down at Aph and sees Aaron glaring at him. "You better be good to her Lycan because if she ever cries because of you I will end you. Tell her I'll be by in a couple of days to apologize. I just need some time."

I cannot stress this enough. No matter how many times a person says yes in the moment the minute they say NO it's not ok anymore. Don't ever let someone guilt you into thinking you wanted it because you participated in the beginning. If someone betrays your trust and ignores that NO get help. Never be afraid to go to your parents. I would do anything for my daughter and she knows she can come to me with anything. Hell hath no fury than a mamma or daddy defending their kid.
