Chapter 73

Zenix's sandwich stops halfway to his mouth and he turns to stare at her, "I was a guard?"

Aph blushes, "Yes you were but you didn't stick around long. You became a Shadow Knight and completed your initiation by killing the previous lord of Phoenix Drop."

Zenix shrugs and continues eating his sandwich. Gene moves to lean up against the island next to Zane, "Alright Kitty cut to the chase, who all in this room joined these Shadow Knights?"

Aph growls at Gene and shakes her head, "Gene! No more Kitty! Fine! Gene, Zenix, Vylad, and Sasha became Shadow Knights before Lady Aphmau had met them. Laurence was a knight and casanova from another village. He transferred to Phoenix Drop to be near Lady Aphmau and became trapped in the Nether. He did become a Shadow Knight but never completed his initiation. Zane was the second son of the King of O'khasis. I'm sorry Zane but he was a very bad apple. No amount of ponies or Christmas presents would save him. He claimed to be a priest but he wasn't very holy. He was obsessed with Lady Irene's power and wanted it for himself, he worked with the Shadow Knights, and manipulated the Jury of Nine which was an earlier version of the Guardian Force. Oh, and he killed Jeffory from that time and pissed Katelyn off. Lady Aphmau's Aaron sacrificed himself, killing Zane in the process all to free Garroth from the Irene dimension. In the end, Zane became a Shadow Knight and betrayed Shad by stealing his relic."

Aph glances around at the stunned faces, drops her head back against her seat, and cries out, "Damn it, Gene! I was planning on telling a nice story!"

Garroth chuckles, "Aph why don't you tell us about our past selves. You can still do a story later on if you'd like."

Aph sighs, "That Garroth was the head guard to Phoenix Drop village. He became Lady Aphmau's personal guard. He also fell in love with her which caused some problems throughout the years and boy does that so not sound familiar. When she first met him he always wore a helmet and refused to take it off. It turned out he was hiding his identity because he was the first son of the King of O'khasis and was pledged to marry Nicole."

Garroth flinches, "Nicole?"

Aph shrugs, "A royalty thing. Aaron was the lord of Falcon Claw village before Zane burned it down along with his wife and child. He became Lord Aphmau's lover shortly before he sacrificed himself. He never knew she was pregnant with his daughter Alina. Since he was the reincarnation of Shad his body was used to house Shad's soul attributing to the rebirth of the Shadow Lord."

Aaron frowns as he glances down at his plate. Aph closes her eyes as she tries to focus her thoughts, "Sorry Melissa but I don't see any memories of you from that time. I don't see memories of anyone but Aaron. It's possible she hadn't met her yet but she was not Aaron's sister then. That Katelyn was also called the Fire Fist. She was a member of the Jury of Nine and had a relationship with Jeffory. Zane sent her to investigate Phoenix Drop but she left the Jury and became one of Lord Aphmau's closest friends. That Dante had a relationship with Nicole but refused to leave Phoenix Drop. She was the Lord of Scaleswind and couldn't leave her people. When they split she was pregnant with his son Dmitri but he didn't know for many years. He then became involved with Kawaii~Chan who did not ship people back then. She was skilled in animation magic and loved to create these cute little maids that could do all sorts of things. Together they had a little girl named Nekoette. Both kids became guards with the Phoenix Alliance. Emmalyn hated Lady Aphmau at first..."

Kim visibly flinches as Emmalyn takes over, "She started burning the books in my library!"

Aph chuckles, "The woman couldn't read or write. She didn't know what a book was. That Cadenza was still Laurence's sister, was skilled at making clothes and she even dyed Laurence's hair orange. Lucinda was a very powerful witch and became a lord even though it was rare for a witch to hold such a position. Hyria became the adopted grandmother to Lord Aphmau's kids but of course, we have her here to tell us her side of things. There are no memories of my mother or Eric. For everyone else, I have vague impressions but nothing solid."

Again Aph is greeted with silence. She searches each face for some sort of response but it appears they're too busy thinking over what she said. She shakes her head and grumbles, "The story would have been better."
