Aarmau: Remember Me, Remember Us, Just Remember

Chapter 182

The higher Aph went the more excited she became. Not being confined to the ground, by her height is freeing.

Bursting through the clouds she spreads her wings out to her sides to catch the air current and hangs there for a moment. She opens her eyes and looks around her and the beauty is like nothing she's seen before.

She knows she can't stay up here forever so she leans to the side, tucks her wings in at her sides, and plummets back toward the ground. She allows her body to free-fall for several seconds, feeling her heart pounding in her chest from the adrenaline, and then opens her wings again so that she can coast along the treetops.

She didn't have any set destination but the longer she's up there the more she wants to look in on the people. She twists to the left on instinct, and within moments she's passing over Phoenix Drop village.

She watches the people stop what they're doing to look up at her and then hear several of them call out Lord Aphmau's name as if it's a question. She offers them a small wave before moving on toward the other villages trapped within the forest.

Each one has the same reaction but none seem to be shocked she can fly. She makes one final turn toward the Yggdrasil Forest but instead of simply flying past it she decides to land and speak with the elves.

She easily locates the center of their community and with a gracefulness she didn't realize she possessed, she gently lands and waits while they gather around her. Her heart beats a little harder not knowing what to expect and she starts to wonder if this was a mistake.

A strong urge to turn around washes through her and she can't help but give in to it. She slowly looks over her shoulder and as she turns she finds Zoey smiling at her.

While the elf still looks young Aph knows from Lord Aphmau's memories that she's over 1700 years old and that she sacrificed her immortality to rescue Lord Aphmau from the Irene dimension. If it wasn't for Hyria freezing time in their part of the forest she wouldn't be here for this moment.

Zoey offers her a gentle smile and nods, "You look so much like Irene and Lord Aphmau but I know that you are neither of them. However, I can feel them both within you. What name do you go by?"

Aph closes her eyes for a brief moment, smiles, and then laughs, "Did the ears and tail give it away? You are Zoey and you look just as you did the last time Lord Aphmau laid eyes on you. You cared for her children when she couldn't and she was eternally grateful. I was the third piece of Lady Irene's broken soul but now, it has been healed and I not only possess her essence but her magic and the memories of both Irene and Lord Aphmau. I also go by Aphmau but my friends simply call me Aph."
