Aarmau: Remember Me, Remember Us, Just Remember

Chapter 48

Over the next couple of hours, the others work at setting up for dinner and talking quietly while Aph and Aaron sleep. Each of their friends stops from time to time, glances at them, and can't help but smile at how it all turned out.

They all know Aph has a long way to go but the feeling of hopelessness and despair they had felt just weeks ago are gone. They're all relieved that Rowan was wrong about her fate.

As they gather in the living room Melissa turns to Garroth. "Hey Garroth, were you able to find anything out about your father?"

Garroth growls, "A little but Lucinda understands it better. Someone used a forever potion to make us forget about him. Hyria was able to reverse the effect but our memories are still a little fuzzy. We haven't gotten mom involved yet but we will tomorrow. I just don't understand why they did it and where dad is now?"

Rowan grunts, "Well, Derek and Garte turned against Elizabeth, Michael, and Zack. I'd say revenge. Derek sacrificed himself for Aaron. I think Zack had a change of heart at the end so it would have either been Michael or Elizabeth.

Travis shakes his head, "Michael was a little preoccupied during most of that and I don't remember seeing him do it and my dad sacrificed himself as well at the end too. I don't remember this Elizabeth or Zack, who are they?"

Rowan begins to speak but Sylvana cuts everyone off, "Elizabeth is Eric's ex-wife and Katelyn's mother. Zack is Aphmau's father. I knew he was up to no good when we were together but I tried really hard to ignore it. To think he was part of those child experiments sickens me."

Melissa flinches, "Wait, Zack is the name of the doctor we were taking Aaron to. Starlight wasn't just a random occurrence. They must have been planning it for years."

Rowan sighs, "You know we might never be able to truly relax but Michael is gone thanks to Terry. Derek sacrificed himself for Aaron so we can't forget what they did for us all. And who knows where Elizabeth and Garte are but we can handle anything they throw at us. Let's table this for now and eat."

They all eagerly agree and Melissa heads back into the kitchen to pull the food she had picked up out of the oven where it had been left to stay warm. They all have trouble deciding who's going to be the one to wake Aaron and Aph up so Rowan shakes his head and volunteers.
