Seeing that the bed has been converted into its chair form he crosses over to it, sets Aph down, and waits to make sure she's secure before stepping away. He quickly kisses her forehead and then moves into the kitchen to fix her plate.
Aph glances at Gene and sees him give Aaron an odd look before walking over to her, "Aph, I'm sorry about what I did. I guess I got a little overprotective."
Aph studies Gene for a second and then sighs, "I understand Gene but you need to remember that Aaron would never intentionally hurt me. I love him and always will. Nothing will ever change that. I'm not sure if anyone has told you but his memories have come back."
Gene frowns, "When? How? Everyone was saying it would probably never happen."
Aph shrugs, "Not long. He's been having flashbacks and I guess one of them finally cleared whatever was blocking his memory. His eyesight has returned to normal too."
Gene shakes his head, "I heard them say that wouldn't happen either. Man, you come home and I'm gone for what, a day, and everything is hunky-dory again?"
Aph smiles at him, "I thought you told everyone you needed a couple of days and I kind of healed his eyes so it's possible they were right."
Gene rolls his eyes as he looks away and rubs the back of his neck, "Yeah well I couldn't seem to stay away. I'm a glutton for punishment I guess."
What Aph just said finally registers in his mind and his head whips toward her. He leans in a little too close and Aph is forced to lean away from him as his voice begins to rise. "Wait! You can heal? From what I remember in high school healing magic is very dangerous to the user. It could have killed you, Kitty."
Aaron places their plates on the movable tray and pulls Gene back before stepping in between them. "First, back off Gene. She didn't do it on purpose and I would never have asked her to had I remembered. Second, we've told you to stop calling her that. What's done is done and she's alright. I have all my memories back and once Aph is better we will be getting married."
Aph glances around the room and seeing that Carter is nowhere to be seen she reaches out and gently touches Aaron's arm. Aaron growls and then pulls the tray across the bed before grabbing his plate and sitting in his chair.
Aph sighs, "Gene before we went to Starlight I had asked Lucinda to teach me healing magic. I had started getting the hang of it before the lockdown and had even healed a couple of Aaron's scars. I am fully aware of how draining it is to use it but I didn't care at that point. All I wanted was to undo some of the damage I had caused. But this time it was different. It didn't drain me at all, I actually felt stronger."
Aaron frowns, "Aph?"
Aph glances around the room, "We have to be very careful to not let this get back to the Guardian Force. I know Rowan had a talk with Carter and he seems helpful but I don't trust anyone I didn't know before Starlight."
Gene smirks, "What about Rowan?"
Aph shakes her head, "Rowan is fine, I met him when I was in college, and Aaron's known him his whole life."
The moment the words pop out of her mouth the front door opens and the rest of their friends walk into the house followed by Carter. Aph glances at Aaron and he pushes up from his chair and intercepts the nurse. He makes a comment about the pool outside and Aph watches as they step out into the backyard.
