Over the next week, Aph focused hard on regaining her strength. They started working both in and out of the pool twice a day and she never again felt embarrassed by the amount of food she ate, not if it meant she was building muscle.
She also didn't allow herself to become distracted by extracurricular bedroom activities during the day much to Aaron's disappointment and by bedtime, she was so tired she didn't have the energy to dream much less make love. You would think this would put a strain on things but Aaron understood her determination and it eliminated the risk of accidentally getting her pregnant.
By the eighth day, she was back on her feet but only walking short distances. She asked about bringing the animals back again but he told her just a little bit longer.
By the end of the second week, she was taking short walks around the block but she still tired easily. Her hunger had evened out and while she still hadn't returned to the weight she had been before Starlight she was no longer the skeleton she had been when she came home.
Aaron started taking her over to see Hyria each day which Carter didn't approve of. Since he was not invited to go he didn't see how it would help her recovery. Each time he protested Rowan found something that would distract him.
Lucinda was always there to witness Aph's progress. While both she and Aaron were impressed by how fast she was learning new spells Hyria was not.
The first thing they worked on was teleportation magic. Since Aph had already used this type of magic it wasn't long before she was moving objects both large and small from one place to the other.
Aph's teleportation magic was different from most others. While she could still levitate and move objects in the same space as her, she could also open portals and move them from one room to another or one surface to another. As long as she had actually seen the layout of the destination she could safely teleport any object to that space and to a specific surface.
She could also teleport any object to her. If she could picture it and it existed somewhere in their world she could bring it to her. She was very tempted to try this on their pets but Hyria cautioned her to work on non-living objects before moving on.
The second thing they worked on was elemental magic. She quickly learned how to manipulate everything and anything having to do with earth, air, fire, and water.
Her training ground for practicing earth, air, and water magic was Hyria's garden. She used it to dig holes, water plants, and blow all the yard debris into a neat pile. She topped it off by teleporting the debris into bins along the fence line used for composting.
She figured out fire magic by lighting candles or logs in the fireplace and firepit and heating simple things like tea. She knew she had to be very careful with this particular element because one wrong move could easily end in disaster.
She also learned to combine the different elemental magics with normal magic to accomplish certain objectives. For instance, she could teleport a small ember into one of the compost bins to set it on fire and create a burn barrel.
She figured out how to suppress the heat around her to cool the air and then add water to the mix to make ice or snow. At one point she giggled as she looked over at Aaron and asked him if wanted to build a snowman. Aaron simply shook his head, groaned, and couldn't help but chuckle at her.
The whole time Aaron watched her learn and grow stronger both in magic ability and physical strength. If it had been anyone else he would have worried it would all go to their head but it wasn't like that with Aph.
His only worry was what if it wasn't Aph in control? What if one of the others took control? He could only hope that was something they would never have to face.
