Chapter 20

Garroth and Zane approach her bed. Zane has his usual scowl on his face while Garroth offers her a comforting smile, "Just ignore Gene. He's just jealous he's been here the whole time and didn't get to have the adventure we did."

Zane looks at Garroth like he's lost his mind, "I would give anything to have had a boring vacation. Gene was the lucky one. Don't worry Aph, I won't let Gene bother you too much."

Aph chuckles, "Sheesh Dad! I think I can handle Gene on my own. Oh! Speaking of dad, how's Zianna and Garte?"

Zane and Garroth look at each other with more than a little confusion. Garroth scratches the back of his ear and frowns, "Mom's fine Aph but who's Garte?"

Aph glances at Aaron and then back to Garroth and Zane, "Um your father? How's he doing?"

Zane walks up to the bed and gently places the back of his hand against Aph's forehead, "Are you feeling alright Aph? We don't know who this Garte is. Mom never told us our father's name but I'd remember if she did."

Aph is more than a little confused, "F.C. would you please hand me my phone?"

Aaron grabs her phone off the side table and hands it to her. Her hands badly shake as she tries to tap and swipe at her screen. She's frustrated that it's not as easy anymore and with a growl hands it back to Aaron. "F.C. would you please pull up my picture gallery and show it to me?"

Aaron nods as he takes it back and his eyes widen as he pulls up a lot of pictures. He looks at her uneasily and she laughs, "Hold it so I can see?"

With the gallery in front of her she takes a steadying breath. Scanning the the little thumbnails she sees the picture she's looking for and focuses on opening it. The picture is of her, Garroth, Zane, Zianna, Garte and Sylvana from a dinner they had together back at Starlight and asks Aaron to turn it for them to see.

Garroth and Zane look at the picture in shock as everyone comes in from the living room. Melissa glances at the worry on Aph's face, "What's wrong Aph?"

Aph looks at everyone in the room, "Why doesn't Garroth and Zane remember their own father? Please tell me I'm not the only one to remember him."

They all look at the picture, nod and reassure her that she's not the only one to remember him. Lucinda looks at Garroth, "Garroth, do you seriously not remember him?"

Garroth stares at the picture and shakes his head, "I really don't remember him. If you all say I should then why don't I remember him?"

Kim moves to stand by Garroth and gently touches his arm. She closes her eyes and is silent for a moment before her eyes pop open and she gasps, "Someone removed the memory. Someone didn't want him to remember. I'm guessing Zane will be the same way. Hmm I wonder what we'd find if we checked Zianna."
