Aph simply nods, "You see Irene was once human but the technology she had allowed her to do amazing things, including using relics. Emmaline wasn't completely correct. Relics don't simply vanish, they're absorbed by the user. Those relics are what helped sustain Irene's life. If the relic was magic based you could gain that ability. In the end Irene wasn't just a normal human anymore. But her life didn't turn out the way she had envisioned it. Her partner, Shade, turned against her. They banished him at first but eventually had to destroy him. The other Divine Warriors eventually grew tired, stopped using relics and resigned themselves to live normal human lives that would end in their deaths. Irene felt obligated to protect this world so she watched her friends live, have families, grow old and eventually die. As she watched their children follow the same fate, she decided to force a sort of reincarnation in their families. Of course, these copies were never aware of whom they used to be but they always seemed to gravitate to each other. They gave Irene her the opportunity to see her friends again. She was content for a while but in time she grew numb to the world. She knew what was happening to her so she came up with a solution. She broke her soul into three pieces. One she kept and locked herself away in a dimension where she could not easily interfere with this world. The second she placed in the world; this would be Emmaline's Aphmau. She wasn't the original founder of Phoenix Drop but she did become its lord. That Aphmau met her own Aaron and had a child but fate is cruel and it repeated itself. Just like Irene they didn't live happily ever after. The third she gave to me but I'm also a direct descendent of that Aphmau's child. Irene accepted her fate; my coming back healed her soul. I'm not just one piece anymore; I have the memories and experiences of all three."

The room is silent as Aaron absorbs what she's told him. "So, does this make you immortal? A goddess?"

Aph chuckles and shakes her head, "No and you know Irene wasn't really a goddess. I just know a lot more than I used to. I have a lot to sort out in my head. Like Zane was evil in another life. Same dynamics between him and Garroth and he even tried to force the other Aphmau to marry him. The last Aaron wasn't too much different than what you are now. Anyway, none of that matters right now. What you saw was just a bit of what I came back with."

Aaron frowns, "What was it? Was it magic?"

Aph shrugs, "No it was Irene in a way. I think she's still with me similar to Emmaline but she's not conscious anymore and I don't feel her. I think her only desire was to help and protect. Gene was threatening you and I kind of went on auto pilot. Whatever power or talent she had was passed on to me but I don't know how to use it. Of course I think the potential for magic is in all of us but some just never learn. I had just started learning healing magic when all hell broke loose. Right now, I'm going to focus on moving again."

"Hey Shu, if you can heal why don't you try to heal yourself? And what happens if she pops up again?"

Aph shakes her head, "I wish it was that simple. Healers use their energy to heal so they can heal others but not themselves. The couple of times I tried I was down for a few of hours and you were not exactly happy with me. As for Irene, I really don't know. I can only hope she stays quiet or I will need to find a way to deal with her."

"Why wouldn't I be happy with you?"

She reaches out and gently touches his chest, "Those scars you have, you used to have two more."

Aaron glances down where her hand rests.

The room suddenly changes and he sees himself on a couch. Shu stands beside him with her arms stretch out above him. "You always made me happy".

The room changes back and he sees her squinting at him and then her eyes widen. "You just saw something, didn't you?"
