She glances over at Aaron and smiles. She can see he's having second thoughts but only because he's worried about her.

She was going to wait for another day or at least until after she's had a good night's sleep but she's afraid he's going to change his mind. Releasing a slow breath she places one hand over his heart, the other along the side of his head, and closes her eyes.

She hears Aaron shout her name and several others around the room telling her to wait but it's too late and she wouldn't stop even if she could. She begins to whisper under her breath and the dialect is so ancient even Hyria might not understand what she's saying.

Irene told her she'd know what to do when the time came but she hadn't really believed her. It amazes her to know that she has all this instinctive knowledge crammed in her brain just waiting to be used. Too bad it hadn't been around during school.

Aaron starts to pull away but she hears Lucinda order him to stop, that interrupting the incantation could end up hurting her. He grudgingly holds still but she doesn't need to open her eyes to know he's upset with her.

She feels the palm over his heart grow warm and her fingertips on the other hand start to tingle. Seconds later she feels a brief surge of energy rush from her to Aaron and hears him gasp.

She slowly opens her eyes to a look of wonder in his and the world instantly begins to spin. She sees the wonder die a quick death as she slumps against him and she struggles to stay conscious.

She hears them all call out to her but they sound too far for her to understand. Aaron pulls her into his lap and brushes a stray strand of hair from her face. "You stupid little potato! Nothing is worth anything if it means losing you."

Aph smiles and weakly pats his chest. "I'm just tired Aaron, not dying. I'm sure I'll be fine with some sleep."

Aaron growls low in his chest as he pushes to his feet and lifts her into his arms. "Alright people, I'm taking her home. The reckless goddess needs to sleep this off."

Melissa stops him, "Do you at least feel different?"

Aaron stops and frowns like he's examining how he feels. "I feel like a worry has been lifted, like this dark cloud that has been hovering over me all my life is gone. Is it just the power of suggestion? I don't know and right now I don't care. I need to get Aph home."

Aaron turns and storms out of the restaurant. Not a single person dares to get in his way and they make it a point to give him as much room as possible.
