The next morning Aph woke to find Aaron gone again. As she pushes to sit up the skin over her wound pulls and she hisses as the pain reminds her of last night's events.
She quickly throws off the covers and moves to the middle of the room and turns toward the mirror. Taking a deep breath she closes her eyes, lets the magic flow through her again and when she opens her eyes she smiles as she sees her wings stretch out to her sides.
She's never actually seen them before and she's stunned. She glances up at her ears and tail and starts giggling. She doesn't think anyone would ever have imagined a werewolf with wings.
She quickly wills them away much like hiding her ears and tail and sighs. Maybe Aaron will let her try them while they're at the cottage.
A bubble of excitement rolls through her at the thought of spending time alone with Aaron and in a place where very few can easily interrupt them. They'll definitely have to go often just so they can have time for themselves.
As she goes through her morning routine to get ready for the day she thinks about the forest. She hasn't given much thought to the people living in it and she's still not sure what she should do about them or even if she should do anything.
Both Irene and Lord Aphmau claim they never intended to have any of them trapped in time. They were supposed to live their normal lives which included dying when it was their time. So should she release them and if she did how?
She was so lost in thought she didn't hear Aaron come into the room several minutes ago or that he's been watching her. When he realizes she doesn't know he's there he clears his throat, "Something tells me I'm not going to like what you're thinking. I recognize the look on your face."
Aph jumps and spins toward him. She dramatically rolls her eyes and shakes her head, "You don't know what I'm thinking Aaron. I could be thinking about how many times we'll have sex while at the cottage."
Aaron hesitates for a brief moment and then nods. "You could be but I doubt it. Whatever it is, if you don't want to tell me can you at least wait? We had enough drama last night and I would like to relax for a while."
Aph knows he's right and understands how he feels. She can let the matter rest for now but she'll have to deal with it eventually. Maybe talking to Aaron will help but not right now.
She slowly nods, "Alright I'll let it go for now and while I do want to talk to you about it, I want to wait until we're settled in at the cottage. We should probably start packing."
Aaron shakes his head, "I already did that and everything is loaded into the car. Melissa will drive us out there and we'll let her into the forest so she can reach us if she needs us. Right now all you need to do is eat breakfast and then we can go."
Aph is surprised she doesn't have to do anything. How did she sleep through him packing up their things? "I can just grab something to eat at the cottage."
Aaron sighs and shakes his head again. "No, because you'll find some excuse to put it off. I already have something waiting downstairs and everyone wants to see you before we leave. I think they want to make sure you're alright after last night."
Aph had already forgotten about her wound and it throbs to remind her. Taking a deep breath she moves for the door and he stops her long enough to give her a small kiss. After briefly resting her forehead against his chest and breathing in his scent she smiles up at him and together they head downstairs.
