ANGST TIME

Edit: This chapter might be a little ooc so yeah

Edit 2: I really don't like this chapter now for some reason what happened

Tw: homophobia

Usually when you come out to your parents, you're expecting the worst. Well, that's exactly what Xingqiu had thought when he approached his parents one evening at home after he felt he couldn't keep it a secret any longer.

He had rehearsed how it would go in his head over and over and over again, but when it finally happened, when he finally told them, it was much worse than he had expected.

Much, much worse.

"We expected much more from you, Xingqiu. You can't be running around doing these things with the weight of the family business on all of our shoulders."

"But I-!"

"Enough. I won't hear anymore. Right now, you are to go see this other boy immediately and tell him you aren't going to see him anymore. Do you understand?"

"...Yes."

The words from his father and mother were still fresh in his minds as his feet seemed to drag across the earth, knowing one step closer to Chongyun was one step closer to never seeing him again.

Before he knew it, familiar shades of blue and white had come into view, lying on the ground at their training spot and staring up at the dimming sky in the late afternoon.

Hearing his footsteps, the exorcist sat up and looked at him, his blue eyes widening.

"Xingqiu! You look...upset. What's wrong?" He asked him worriedly when Xingqiu stopped to tower over him with his head down and his bangs covering his eyes.

Xingqiu didn't want to face him like this. He never had before. If it got to the point where Chongyun broke down, Xingqiu had no problem lending him his shoulder and whispering comforting words in his ear while he let the emotions he normally couldn't let escape out.

But he himself had never cried in front of him. Not like this, anyways.

Sure, the few times when they were younger, but that was over far smaller things like tripping over something on the ground. Now, this was much more serious and all the harder to come to terms with.

"Xing...qiu? Hey, what's going on?"

Chongyun reached for his hand only for him to roughly pull it away, an action that surprised them both.

"I-I didn't mean to do that." Xingqiu told him quickly, trying desperately to cover how his voice cracked while he tried to keep it together.

It didn't matter though, because right after that Chongyun stood up so they could stand face to face, waiting for Xingqiu to look at him.

"I won't touch you if you're uncomfortable with it right now. I just want to know what's going on. And how I can help."

"You can't."

"Huh?"

At last, Xingqiu pulled himself together enough to force eye contact, watching as his boyfriend's face changed to that of extreme surprise.

Hot, uncontrollable tears stained his cheeks and welled in his amber eyes, his lip quivering as he struggled to keep muffled cries from escaping.

He took a deep, shaky breath, trying his hardest to get through his words. "I told my parents about us, and they want me to break up with you. There's nothing we can do about it, but I don't want to ever let you go, and, and I-"

All at once he started bawling and hung his head to face their shoes again, falling against the exorcist's chest with his hands fallen helplessly at his sides.

He didn't know what to do when Chongyun wrapped his arms around him, holding him close, except for let everything he had built up inside of him out.

Chongyun waited a while before speaking. "I'm really sorry your parents told you that, Xingqiu. And..."

He paused when Xingqiu's cries had quieted to soft sniffling and slow tears, slowly lifting his head to try and blink away the tears. When they cleared, his heart broke at the sight.

"I don't want to leave you either." He spoke sincerely while a spare tear fell from his eye.

"Then..."

Xingqiu wiped his face with his sleeve.

"I'm not going to."

Chongyun looked at him in shock. Did he just say what he though he said? Weren't they just crying over having to say goodbye to their relationship as a whole just a second ago?

"How about we stop living like how our parents want us to?" He raised his voice slightly.

"Huh?"

"Let's vow to not give up and figure the rest out later! I refuse to pretend you aren't so greatly important to me."

"I...I don't want to pretend either."

"Then let's not! No matter what, we have each other. And..." He leaned in closer to him. "I think that's enough."

To answer his question and satisfy their feelings, Chongyun caught his lips with his and felt as the other reciprocated his feelings.

They'd already kissed a multitude of times before, but this one was different than the short, sweet kisses goodnight or long, deeper kisses after not seeing each other for a time.

This time they rested upon each other's lips, in it finding closure.

How it would go, how long it would last, none of it was determined.

The only thing they knew was that they had each other, and as long as they were within arm's reach there was nothing to worry about.

So I'm counting this as my first official Xingyun angst chapter, what are we thinking?

I could do milder angst or more hardcore angst, but there will probably be quite an intermission between angst chapters because I like fluff more 😂

Thank you for reading!
