Xingqiu had long since accepted the fact that he was positively enamored with his best friend - in love with him, to be exact.

He doesn't even want to say he 'succumbed' to it, because he never really tried to deny it, or fight against it like he knew some people did when they fell in love with people close to them.

To him, he couldn't possibly refuse or deny his feelings, because the reality of being in love with Chongyun and this feeling that was so wonderful was too good to resist.

He didn't mind that everytime Chongyun was around, an easy blush followed on his cheeks, or whenever he got a little close while asking about leads, his heart pounded ten times faster.

He didn't mind that everytime Chongyun said something so incredibly heartfelt without meaning to, he felt like Chongyun was subconsciously pulling at his heart as if to take it, and to claim it as his own.

Xingqiu would've given it to him in a heart beat if he really had.

He loved noticing all the little things about him, from the spikes and curls adorning his hair to the fact he gets teary eyed when people compliment him too much, or how his cheeks are permanently blushy because of his condition.

He doesn't mind any of those things, and in fact he feels himself falling more and more in love with him nearly everyday.

He'd never imagined himself ever having a crush on someone, and never really understood what was so great about romance when he read about it in so many books until Chongyun - then he understood.

He understood that they give you something great to look forward to no matter what you're doing, that they encourage you to do your best without even being there or saying anything, and just the thought of them gets your blood pumping and makes him want to jump up and help defend Liyue by his side.

He surely supposes that that's why he likes so many tales about heroes and heroines that fall in love and want nothing more than it carry out their duties with this person beside them, and he can't help but always want to reach out and gently grab Chongyun by the hood like he always does and whisk him away for great adventures backed with love and Justice.

Just doing great things, even if it's just going out and defeating a hilichurl camp, makes him feel so invigorated, so alive, to have him by his side and help him fulfill his dreams of Justice and chivalry, that he can hardly stop himself from getting excited like one of the characters in his books after their battles are over and damn near swooning over him.

The fact he almost seems more attractive after he gets serious during their fights and adventures makes him blush all too much, and some days it's hard not to take him by the hand, dip him towards the earth and praise him for how well of a team they are.

They're almost like perfect parallels, even if contradictions in their own fields with Chongyun as an exorcist that can't see spirits and Xingqiu as the seconds son of a highly distinguished guild yet has quite the teasing and mischievous side.

Chongyun is the ice that can freeze his water in battles, the stoic, yet easily gullible persona to Xingqiu's trickster personality, and even though he doesn't possess nearly the same level as Chongyun, the Yang to his Yin.

Such a parallel and perfect match could only have been made in Celestia, and the fact that he was graced with the fact to not only know him but to be his best friend to have fallen in love-

Why, it makes him so uncharacteristically giddy every time he comes back home from one of their hang outs that he can't help but want to write the most elegant and extravagant poetry and most noble and heroic stories about them both.
