The only sounds Taeyong can hear at the moment are the small twigs and leaves crunching under him. It's a lovely day to walk in the woods. He's just back from catching himself a nice fish for lunch. It's a Friday evening and he's off work for four days. When he gets to his driveway he hears a weird grunting sound and figures it's probably a bear so he starts making a lot of noise in hopes of scaring it off. The noise stops but he didn't hear it run so he's still cautious as he peeks around his garage. What he sees instead is shocking.
"Oh my god, are you ok?" He asks as he runs to his steps seeing a man hunched over and blood dripping on the wood and concrete under him. Taeyong grabs the man's arm and he flinches away keeping his face tucked into his coat. He's big so Taeyong can't throw him over his shoulder or anything.
"Listen mister, I'm not planning to hurt you. I'm a nurse, let me take care of you." He reluctantly nods and soon he relaxes a bit so Taeyong can help him up. He quickly unlocks his door and drags him to a kitchen chair so he can look him over.
He runs back out and grabs his things. His bag he always carry's with him when he goes on an adventure has medical supplies and he brings his fish in to put on ice. He quickly washes then brings his attention back to the silent man.
"I'm going to need to get your clothes off of you." He says gently. The man just nods with his head still down and tries to help to get his jacket off but he can only get it so far before the pain prevents his movements.
"Shh, it's ok. Hold still and let me. Can you tell me what happened?" He asks as he starts to slide his jacket down his shoulders. He is silent so Taeyong just keeps trying. His t shirt is tore and covered in blood so he grabs his scissors.
"I'm going to cut this off you." He gets a nod in response and carefully starts cutting. When he gets about halfway the man grabs his wrist. He does his best to calm him.
"I'm not going to hurt you." He says softly. Finally the man looks up with glossy eyes full of un shed tears and nods.
"Thank you." He whispers. Taeyong smiles gently and finishes cutting then slowly removes it from his shoulders.
"It would be helpful to know what kind of wound this is?" He asks as he goes to get a wash cloth.
"I flipped my motorcycle, I don't know if it's from a tree branch or what. It cut me pretty deep." He says in. A scratchy unused voice. Taeyong hums and starts to wash him. He winces a little but bites his tongue, knowing it needs to get done. Taeyong is gentle and careful and he is so relieved that he was the one to find him.
"Oh, I'm sorry, where are my manners you must be thirsty." He gets up and grabs a couple of bottles of water and sets them on the table after loosening the lids. The man chuckles a little.
"You really are a nurse aren't you?" Taeyong smiles thoughtfully.
"Indeed. I have an amazing bedside manner." This makes the other laugh harder.
"That you do."
After getting him clean, stitched up and bandaged, it's not as bad as he thought it would have been, he wants him to lay down and rest. He's very skittish and doesn't want to at first but falls asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow.
It's eight pm when the man appears again from the bedroom. Taeyong is standing over the stove cooking a meal when he hears him come in.
"Hungry? I caught a fish today." He says with a proud grin. The man smiles, something about Taeyong is endearing.
"There is a new razor and toothbrush on the counter and some of my baggiest clothes." He smiles as he watches him feel his fuzzy beard.
"Sorry, if you want to keep the beard it's fine. You will fit right in on this mountain and besides, I think you look nice with it." He says with a shy smile. The man returns it.
"Ok, I'll go shower then, thank you." Taeyong goes back to what he's doing, and by the time he gets back out, the table is set and the food is plated nicely.
"It looks amazing." He says as he walks in. Taeyong smiles in appreciation.
"It comes with a price." The other frowns.
"I'd like to know your name, and why you are out here in the middle of nowhere?" The man smirks.
"Fair enough, I would have given you that just for taking care of me." He takes a deep breath.
"My name is Johnny, I'm here because I crashed on the road east of here about ten miles? I cut through the woods." Taeyong is shocked.
"No that road is ten miles from here on the road, it's at least twice that when you are hiking the mountain." Johnny just shrugs.
"Just don't tell anyone I'm here ok?" Johnny asks making him frown.
"I Can pretty much tell you won't share why it's a secret and it's ok for now. I'll allow you to stay to heal, we can get your bike fixed and get your strength up." Johnny looks at him with soft eyes, he looks around his cozy cabin and tears up.
"Thank you." They eat together and Taeyong got endless praise from Johnny while he washes the dishes and lets Taeyong sit.
"So what do you do for fun out here?" Taeyong straightens his lips.
"Well, you might get a little bored. I like to read and meditate. Feed and talk to my fish and play cards or I have a few other board games. I have a radio, sometimes I turn it up really loud and sing at the top of my lungs when I'm cleaning. Something I couldn't do at my old place. I like to go fishing down by the river and there is a clearing a couple miles from here that I like to lay in and watch the stars." Taeyong notices him staring with a soft smile and realizes he was rambling.
"Sorry." He says quickly.
