Homelander knocked on the door of Madelyn Stilwell's home while keeping my arm in his.
She opened the door, worn out and with a baby in her arm.
"I wasn't expecting you." She directed at Homelander.

"Well. Surprise." He said stiffly.

"Good evening." I said, and she looked back at me.

"Come in. It's cold outside." She said and smiled.

We followed her into the dining room. The table was only set for two.
"I'll be right back." She said and disappeared with the baby.

"So you weren't invited, huh?" I asked teasingly.

"I'm Homelander. I don't need an invitation." He scoffed.

"That really is your answer to everything. Isn't it?" I said and shook my head at his audacity.

"What is??" He asked, perplexed.

"I'M HoMeLanDeR." I mocked with a small smile.

"But I am!" He countered laughing. "And I don't sound like that at all!" He argued, smiling.

I was about to counter. However, Madelyn reapeared, without the baby, and set the table for one more.
Dinner was awkward, but eventually, smalltalk turned into a conversation.

"Ashley told me about the offer you didn't accept." She started.

"Well, it's flattering to be considered for such a position. However, I am satisfied with being a PA." I said politely.

"Oh. Is that the case?" She asked and took a sip from her glas.

"What's wrong with being a PA?" Homelander asked, slightly annoyed.

"I know you. You are not easy to handle.
Perhaps y/n would like a task that is more rewarding." She said sharply.

"Thank you. But I'm sure Mr. Edgar wouldn't appreciate having to rework my contract." I threw in.

"Oh, I heard that you got him to do that." She said with a light chuckle. And with that, the topic was off, for now at least.
