As I got closer to Mr. Edgar's office, I started to lose my newfound confidence.
I knocked on the door and heard him hum, I entered and was hit with the face of a man who seemed not annoyed but completely unfased until he raised his eyes to mine."Red Canary." He said slowly. "When you came here, I thought you were a clever addition to the staff. Now I think you're beginning to forget your place." He added and exhaled.
I stayed quiet.
"Maybe we should go back a step. There's enough paperwork far away from the seven. No more affairs with colleagues." He said and stood from his chair. "Cat got your tongue?" He asked.
I held my head high and responded. "To me, it looks like you already know what to do. Why list all the options? Intimidation?" I asked, and he smiled.
"So you still are as clever as ever." He noted.
"And you still can't get to the point." I replied.
"Control Homelander. As of now, he is our mascot. The face, the name. If he ruins that, we'll have to rebrand again. And it would be too soon for that." He explained.
"I thought it was your job to control your supes. I was just a neat lil' accessory." I snarled.
"Oh no, red. You misunderstood. You are more like a trojan horse than a plain accessory." He chuckled.
I stepped closer. "You're using me."
"Don't act surprised. It surely isn't the first time." He spat.
"You should be more respectful." I warned, but he shooed me away.
I left the office and returned to my apartment.
Edgar needed to go. I just had to think about how that was going to happen.
