I did not mean for this to happen

The next morning, 7:30am

Your eyes fluttered open and the first place you looked was above you, you were still laying on Nines' chest. After last night, you now knew that you could not sleep without Nines at all. Those nightmares would just start again.

Nines had now opened his eyes too, you were still so angry at him for the fight last night, but you were trying to let it go a bit.

"Good morning." He said as he stared cautiously at you.

"Morning." You responded before wriggling out of his hold and sitting up, wiping the sleep from your eyes.

"How are you feeling this morning?" He then asked as you looked over your shoulder at him, your eyes dragging themselves up and down his body.

"I'm fine." You lied, you didn't really want him to know you were still angry with him.

"That was a lie." Nines breathed out, you let out a sigh and shrugged your shoulders casually. It wasn't your fault you felt the way you did.

"It was, but I can't help it." You mumbled as Nines sat up beside you.

"I know you cannot." Nines said as he placed a hand gently onto your shoulder. "I will leave you to get ready."

Nines' hand slipped off of your shoulder as he then climbed out of the bed, you knew he was probably finding it hard knowing only you would be going to work today. Yet you let him leave, because he was right you needed to get ready.

Once Nines had left the room you ran your hand through your hair and let out a groan. Unfortunately last night had been real, and not its own fucked up nightmare. It was very real.

It was only going to be you and Hank at work together. No Connor. No Nines. Just the both of you.

You wasted no time in going for a shower, then changing into your clothes for the day. Eventually dragging yourself into the living room, upon entering you noticed Nines sprawled out on the sofa.

"Would you like breakfast?" Nines asked, not moving from his position at all.

"Nah. I'll be fine." You insisted as you adjusted your top.

"Okay, I will make you some toast." Was all he said as he stood from the sofa and made his way towards the kitchen.

You should have known he wouldn't let you go without breakfast. Plopping down onto the sofa you waited for Nines to return, not a few minutes later he did. Holding a plate of toast in one hand and a cup in the other.

He placed both down onto the coffee table, before then sitting down beside you. You leant forward and grabbed the plate of toast.

"Thanks." You thanked before taking a decently sized bite out of a piece of toast.

"You are welcome." Was all Nines said before turning the TV on, it was weird not seeing him get dressed into work clothes.

By the time you had eaten your toast, Nines had settled on a channel that he wasn't paying any attention to.

"What are you going to do today?" You asked, it had been playing on your mind since your shower. What would Nines do all day?

"I do not know. Probably wallow in my self pity and guilt." Nines responded, his voice sounding deflated.

"Let's not do that."

"Why not? I know you are still angry with me. I do not blame you of course. I have ruined everything, I have completely ruined your partnership with Hank and I have made a dent in our relationship." Nines stated, his eyes fixed on the TV screen.
