That evening

"Can you just promise me you'll stay away from him?" You begged Nines as you pulled your dress on, you heard him sigh from the outside of the door.

"Absolutely, I will not find that very hard at all. But I am not worried about him, he is no threat." Nines answered as you glared at the door, hoping he knew that you were.

"That's not the point, Nines, I don't want you to get into a fight with him." You called out as you successfully pulled the dress on, instantly starting to fiddle with it.

"I will not, and do not intend to Y/N. Can I come in yet?" Nines questioned, the tone of impatience in his voice.

"No my back is open."

"So? It is not like you are naked." Nines countered, you couldn't help but shake your head.

"If you open that door, I swear to Jesus you will be sleeping outside tonight." You growled as you heard an annoyed noise come from Nines, you had no idea why he was so insistent on coming in.

"Fine, I will wait for you in the living room." He grumbled, his footsteps quickly fading away further into the house.

"Annoying Android." You mumbled to yourself as you positioned yourself in front of the mirror and began to do the zip behind yourself.

Hank had managed to get Fowler to agree to a work party for Nines, you really had no idea who would attend. Not many people actually knew Nines, they just avoided him knowing he was a machine.

But you hoped people would come to get to know the new him, even though he'd probably still turn his nose up at them.

Your biggest worry for the evening though, was Connor. After your conversation with him earlier today, you knew he was almost like a ticking time bomb. Ready to blow at any point, one misunderstood comment from Nines and he'd probably try to kill him.

You hated the thought, it would make so many things awkward, especially for Hank.

You just had to hope he'd behave this evening.

After you finished zipping yourself up you grabbed your shoes and cardigan for the evening and slipped out of the room, heading straight for where you knew a sulking Nines was waiting for you.

He was sat lazily on the sofa when you entered, except he wasn't wearing clothes that screamed 'lazy'. He was wearing one of his newer shirts that hugged his body with a matching pair of trousers.

Upon hearing you enter he leant his head back to look at you.

"You look very beautiful." Nines mumbled as you quirked an eyebrow at him.

"I'm upside down for you." You pointed out as he shrugged his shoulders.

"And you still look beautiful upside down." Nines told you, before he then sat up and twisted his body in your direction instead. "See still beautiful the right way up."

"Thank you, are you ready?" You questioned as he glanced down at his feet and raised one into the air.

"No." He said as waved his shoeless foot in the air.

"I meant... never mind put your shoes on." You sighed as you walked around the coffee table and plopped yourself down beside him on the sofa.
