You couldn't help but search for an angle of the woman's face to see if she could give any indication of who this man was, the moment you caught a glimpse of her face you could see the absolute look of betrayal displayed on her face.
He was someone close to her.
That's when it clicked inside of your head, this was her husband.
Her husband had taken the side of the prosecution?
"Please state your relationship to the defendant." The prosecutor ordered the man as soon as he took to the stand.
"I'm her soon to be ex-husband." The man stated as you watched him look towards her with a disgusted look on his face.
"Did your wife ever discuss her dislike for Androids?"
"I knew she wasn't a fan of them, but I never thought anything of it at first. People are allowed their own opinions on things after all." He answered the prosecutor as he avoided looking towards his wife, he was clearly blinded to everything at first.
"Did her opinions on them ever become a concern for you?"
"Yes. When she was questioned by the Police for the first time. We had a lengthy conversation about it, she promised me she'd never actually harm anyone, she just didn't like Androids." He answered, his face full of guilt like if he had just known sooner he could have saved some people.
You understood how he felt.
She had fooled both of you.
"Then what happened?"
"She started going out more, told me she made new friends to try and get over her dislike of Androids. But I never saw evidence of that. Instead... she changed." He told the prosecutor as he glared over at his wife, you caught a glimpse of the twisted anger displayed on her face.
"Did you ever meet these people?"
"A lot of them, I never liked them. I told her that, but she always dismissed me."
"Can you please tell the jury how the police found your wife?" The prosecutor asked as the man searched the crowd his eyes strangely landing on Connor.
What the hell was going on here?
You watched Connor give him a very swift nod of his head.
"I turned my wife in." The man answered with confidence. "I made what I thought was an anonymous call to the station and told them everything I knew. I'm the reason she's stood here today." As he finished he gave his wife a look that could kill, any love he once had for the woman had crumbled away completely.
"And what did you know?"
"A lot. My wife changed she was someone... different. So I started to follow her, thinking maybe she was cheating on me. Instead I found a dark secret instead." The husband began to explain, but you couldn't take your eyes off of the woman and her horrified expression.
She had no idea her husband was involved in her arrest, and she had no idea he'd been following her.
"Could you tell the court some of the things you saw?" The prosecutor asked the man, you couldn't help but plaster a smirk on your face.
There was no way she was escaping this one.
"I saw her enter the club that I'm sure the Police showed you pictures of several times, I once followed the people who left to a house. That I later saw on the news as a crime scene. From that moment on, I collected as much evidence as I could, with the absolute intention of turning my wife in, but she frightened me which is why it took me so long to call the Police. I was scared to become one of her victims." The husband explained to the court, you turned your attention back to him, feeling sympathy for him.
