The morning air was crisp and refreshing as I set out for my run. The sun was just beginning to rise, casting a soft, golden light over the neighborhood. My footsteps echoed in the quiet streets, and I let my mind wander as I settled into a steady pace. I knew I needed this run to clear my head and prepare for the upcoming fight against Tory. But as much as I tried to focus on my training, my thoughts kept drifting back to her.

I had sent Tory a message yesterday when I was eating lunch with Eli, just seeing if she was okay. But she hadn't replied and that worried me. I did tell her that I'm here if she needs me. I wondered if something was wrong or if she was just too focused on her own preparation. The thought of her struggling with something alone made my chest tighten. I hoped she was okay and that whatever was going on, we could sort it out once we were all at Miyagi-Do.

As I continued my run, I tried to shake off the worry. I needed to stay focused, but it was hard when I knew someone I cared about might be in trouble. I pushed myself harder, feeling the burn in my legs and the rhythm of my beating. This fight was important but so was our friendship. We just started to be really good friends and I want to be there for her. I'm hoping she knows that.

I kept running a little bit longer, getting fully prepared before I decided to run back home. Let me get some breakfast before we need to head to the dojo. I'll most likely ride with Sam so I have to see when she'll be ready. I walked through the back door and I could see my cousin sitting at the kitchen table.

"Some breakfast has been made." Sam said as she sipped on some orange juice.

"I see." I said, "What kind of breakfast is there?"

"There's some eggs, bacon, and croissants.." Sam explained, "Unless you're not feeling it."

"I can get a croissant." I said, grabbing one to put on my plate. "And maybe I'll eat some eggs, but the bacon makes me nervous at the moment."

"How come?"

I took a deep breath. "Because I think greasy foods are the reason why I've thrown up lately. I figured that if I don't eat bacon, I'll be alright."

"But usually, you're fine with eating bacon."

"I just don't want to take a chance. Especially when I have my fight with Tory today."

"Yeah." Sam smiled. "Are you ready?"

"I'm ready. The question is, is she ready?"

"I would think so." Sam said as she chewed on some bacon. "But I don't know what's going on. I tried texting her and I didn't get a reply back. Is the same thing happening to you?"

"Yeah." I said as I started to put some butter on my croissant.

And plus, this kind of bread is still very warm so it'll melt the butter and it'll taste amazing. Warm croissants are a game changer.

"I just hope she's alright."

"I say the same."

I had some of my breakfast while I'll take a sip of orange juice myself. I was quite thirsty and orange juice is what I really wanted this morning. Then I'm ready to get in the shower before we head to the dojo. I know I'll most likely sweat because I'll be in a karate fight but I'm sweating from my run and I don't want to be in sweat all day so I rather take a shower now and take another one later. It doesn't bother me.

"Have you talked to Miguel?" I then asked her.

"A little bit earlier." She says, "But I'm still worried."

"I get it. I would be worried too."

"I just know that he wants to go to Stanford. And he's trying his best to reach his goal."
