i tried to play with fire
(and we all know how that goes)
i'm covered in scars
burns from my own words
they stung and they flamed
i wrote down my mind
empty the empty words of my heart
and scattered the letters across the page
but i never got the courage to throw my words
into the fire
because i didn't want to listen to the smoke
as it read everything back at me
i wish i could take a lighter
and send all these feelings to ashes
but for some reason the embers have gone out
so i can't stoke the flames
and i'm soaking wet
and out of matches
guess that's just my luck?
that i can't burn this after all
