how do you tell your wife
they reason you won't look at her
isn't because of her
it's because you can't help but wonder
if the ceiling fan would hold by a rope?
how do you tell your wife
that the reason you don't want to get out of bed
isn't because you're just lazy
but because you don't feel motivated and you're scared of life
but she thinks it's all her fault
she thinks the dead look in your eyes is her fault
and that she's not good enough
but darling, you've been a perfect wife
how do you tell your wife
that the reason you don't feel like living sometimes
isn't because you don't want to live for her
and the reason you don't smile
isn't because she makes you sad
and the reason you aren't happy
isn't because she doesn't make you happy--
how do you tell your wife,
that you're depressed
and it's not her fault
and that you do love her so much
and you do want to live with her
but everything in your head is trying to stop you
and the chemical imbalances in your brain cause you
to just hurt and feel nothing all the same time?
how do you tell your wife,
that you still love her
you just find it hard to hold on?
