how can i know if the iron is hot,
if i don't reach out and touch it?
if i don't sample it?
i can feel the warmth radiating from your surface
and i can feel the innate and primal urge to touch and taste and feel
and i can barely resist
you looked so cold
i couldn't help but share my heat
and you could tell i was so cold
you wanted to share some hot
heat and heart are just too letters apart
but so different,
like we're so different
i know that i'll burn my hand
and i know that you won't want my flesh
to melt off and stick to you for so long
and i know you don't like the smell
so i won't touch you
not for you, but also for me
because if i reach out and take hold of you
we'll be get imprints of each other
we'll both get scarred
and neither of us wants that
just yet
