"It's like this," she says
and shows me
but i can't move like her
she moves effortlessly and gracefully
and it looks so fragile
like a single feather
could knock everything off balance
but i know she's strong
and a single feather
would never be fast enough
to catch her
i laugh
because i can't do it
i can't dance the way she does
"I'll show you how I was taught," I say
and i show her
how they taught me to dance
(although we were taught for entirely different reasons
but i suppose both are meant to entertain)
and she tries it
but can't seem to move her hips
in the right way
"you make it look so easy," she says, frustrated
"and you make it look so hard," i tease, smiling
we give up on learning each other's dances
but at least we can say we tried
and although we both dance so differently
we managed to find a dance
that we could both do
so well
