i can feel the ground beneath my feet
solid, strong, ancient
it invigorates me
i am rooted in the earth
held up, tall and regal like a tree
my arms branch out and they give you shade
you doze, protected under my shadow
my roots dig deep
i can feel the bones of my ancestors
i can hear the wild voices of their spirits
whispering and singing to me
songs i've never heard before
i am calm
i am still
i am quiet
and you are safe
under my branches
