i hadn't known
anyone could look as beautiful
as you did that day
half of your beauty came from
what God had given you
and half of it came from
what you had on the inside
(and it just couldn't help leaking out)
i couldn't take my eyes off you
and i couldn't take the smile off my face
or my hand from covering my mouth
or the happy tears welling in my eyes
(see? you didn't even have to kick me)
you had a flower crown on top of your golden head
it proved your royalty
your kingdom being my heart
oh, queen, please live forever
there were lights woven into the trees
that our friends and family helped put up
and lights woven into the sky
that God himself had put up
and thousands of candles
(it was a probably a fire hazard)
it was perfectly cool
not too hot, not too cold
for an October night
and we were surrounded by the people
that loved us the most
(but no one can argue
that i loved you the most
and you loved me the most)
i kissed you
and i was a new person
with a new title
we had started our new book
and a new life
with me as your husband
and you as my wife
it was the happiest night
in a long time
(probably forever)
and i want to keep it
all to myself
and i think every night
with you
will be the happiest
i'll ever know
