The rest of the day after I had come back, we played board games. We didn't talk about mum or anything to do with it as now was not the time. We watched some old Christmas films and just hung out.

When the clock rolled around to nine we decided to make a move and head home and Lewis and Hannah had to get ready for tomorrow since they had their parents coming over. 'Ok thank you all for coming over, see you after the new year.' Lewis said as we left.

I held Smith's hand as my mum walked in front. 'Do you want me to take you home Miss Court or Do you want to come back to ours for a while?' Smith asked, 'Please call me Kelly Alex. It's up to Abbey.' she looked at me as we waited for the elevator. 'How far away do you live?' I asked her, 'half an hour tops.' she said, 'you know what it's late and you two probably want the house to yourselves, I will go home and I will pop over tomorrow afternoon.' 'How about we meet you for lunch in town? Meet you attend cafe?' I interjected, 'ok darling, we will do that if that's what you want.' she said sounded slightly disappointed.

We drove to my mum's house which turned out to be an apartment in an old looking building. I gave her a hug before she went in and I got back in the car and We drove off. I sighed and rubbed my face with my hands, 'you alright sweetie?' Smith asked putting a hand on my leg. 'I don't know what to do?' I said, 'what do you mean?' he asked and I crossed my legs on the chair. 'She's my mum yet I feel like I barely know her as my mum but I know her more as a waitress. I don't understand how I can just make this work, how I can fit her into my life.' I told him truthfully. 'would you rather not know her?' Smith asked concentrating on the road. 'Of course not. But I had my life all sorted, yeah I was lied to but everything was in the right place. It feels like someone has just smudged it.' I said and Smith doesn't reply.

He didn't say anything until we pulled up on the drive. 'Listen. I know this is a lot to take in. But if I know one thing about you Abbey Court. You are adaptable. It may take you some time but if this had happened when I first met you, hell a couple of months ago you would be a wreck. You are strong and this is just one more thing that you have to solve and overcome. No one is forcing you to change your life, you are the only one who can do that. You can still think of Hannah and Lewis as your mum and dad look up to them or whatever. We all understand that this will not happen overnight and before I set this all up I told your mum everything we went through the whole story and we know that things will not instantly fit into place. But you and I can work through this as a team. You are not alone in this' he said and I waited a second before leaning over and kissing him. 'Thank you.' I whispered and he smiled.

We sat on the sofa, my head on Smith's lap as we watched something on the tv that I don't think either of us understood what was going on. I kept falling asleep where Smith was stroking my hair and I caught him asleep once or twice. One of these times I sat up and looked at the pile of presents that was in the living room. I got up and walked over and found the envelope and picture of my dad, he was sat with a small glass of whisky in his hand. He had stubble on his cheeks, his hair was brown and looked a little messy. He was just sat in this sofa smiling for his picture, he looked so happy. I opened the envelope which I hadn't had time to investigate, I knew there was a letter about him being killed but it wasn't the only thing. There was a postcard from him to my mum.

Dearest Kelly and bump,

We are just off the coast of Africa as I send this and will be at our destination in the next week or so. We have a few new guys on this job with us, they are you get than me and both have kids of their own. If these numpties can do it Kelly, we can.

Lots of Love Tim. X

Ps what do you think of Abbey as a name for bump?

I smiled, my dad named me, it was his idea to call me Abbey. I looked at the picture of him again and stroked it with my thumb. 'What you looking at?' Smith Asked walking in. 'Just at some stuff.' I wiped my eyes, 'look my dad gave me my name, and he really loved mum and me even though I was just a bump.' I told him. As he read the post card. 'He was a good man.' I mumbled, 'it looks like you and him would have got on.' I told Smith handing him. The picture forgetting he had probably seen it all anyway. 'Yeah from what your mum said he was nothing like the guy you had been told about.' Smith handed me back the picture and postcard and suggested we go to bed and I agreed.

Once upstairs i got changed, placed the picture beside my bed and climbed In next to Smith.

AUTHORS NOTE-hey guys, I hope you all liked the bombshell I dropped. Unfortunately a recent change in my life has meant that I may have to take a short break from the book, hopefully it will be no longer than a week but I promise that this is not the end. I will keep you updated as much as I can and thank you for understanding. Glad that you are all enjoying it so much it really means a lot when you tell me that you like it and get the references that I sneak in.

Abs :-)
