Chapter 21 Spaghetti and Panic Texts

We pulled up outside the house and we were all pretty tired. I unlocked the door and we all piled in. Kim was still at the office since she had to do some recording with Hannah for their fright night series and would be home later. Katie was sat in the living room listening to music and making her jewellery again. I went and sat with her walst the lads did whatever they were doing in the dining room. 'What's up?' she asked, I guess after living with each other for as long as we have you can tell when something is up. 'Well we had a lovely visitor named Lucy today.' I told her. 'Lucy?' she asked, 'Yeah the marvellous Lucy, also known as Ross' crazy ex.' Trott said coming in with a glass of water sitting on the sofa behind Katie who was sat on the floor. 'Why was she there?' I shrugged my shoulders, 'I don't know, we didn't give her a warm welcome to say the least, she had no right to be there.' I told Katie and she agreed. 'What did Kim say?' Katie asked again. 'Kim doesn't know and I would like to keep it that way for now please.' Ross said coming in followed by Smith who handed me a cup of tea and sat on the floor next to me. 'I don't really know what to do. She said she would be back and you were bad enough and you are a friend, Kim would flip out.' Ross said pointing at me. 'Abbey what did you do?' Katie asked me like I was a five year old misbehaving. 'I only talked to her.' I told her and Smith huffed. 'Talked to her, you did a little more than that, you sent a pretty clear message.' He told Katie. 'Well she isn't here now, the shopping came in and I think that we should have spaghetti with meat balls for dinner, what do you guys think?' Katie asked standing up. 'Sure sounds good.' We all agreed and Trott and Smith went to help her prep it so I was left with Ross.

We didn't say anything for a little while. But he was the first to talk when we did. 'Thanks for standing up to Lucy today.' He said sliding off of the sofa and next to me where Katie was sat. 'No problem. From what you have told me about her I was happy to do it.' I told him, 'Yeah and if anyone from your past comes back I will stand up for you too.' He nudged me with his elbow. 'Yeah our pasts are something that I hope don't come back what with your crazy ex-girlfriend and my insane uncle. It could be a bit messy.' We chuckled to ourselves and didn't even hear Kim come in. 'What are you two up to?' She asked us both I was distracted by my phone vibrate in my pocket. It was a message from Duncan.

Sorry I told Kim, she asked why I was late to record and I told her that that girl came by; Kim is on her way home. Tell Ross I am sorry.

I felt a slight panic rise though me as I put my phone down beside me and tuned back into the conversation between Kim and Ross. 'Well I am going to go and see Katie.' Kim said turning away and walking out. As soon as she was gone I knelt up and faced Ross. 'She knows, Duncan told her, Kim knows about Lucy' I told him very quickly. 'Jesus, what should I do?' he asked me. 'You have to talk to her about it, pretend she doesn't know and just tell her.' I said just before she came back in. 'I am going to go and help the guys in the kitchen.' I said standing up and leaving Ross and Kim in the living room.

I closed the door to the Kitchen behind me. 'Kim knows, Duncan told her.' I said to them. 'Oh god, what's Ross going to do?' Trott asked, I told them what I told him to do and they said it was a good plan. We listened to see if we could hear the two talking walst we did dinner but there was nothing.

Dinner was ready by seven and we did rock paper scissors to see who had to go and get Ross and Kim since none of us wanted to disrupt them and I lost. I knocked on the door and peeked through the crack and they were both sat on the sofa. 'Guys dinner is ready.' I told them. 'Thanks we will be through in a minute.' Ross uttered, 'Why didn't you tell me?' Kim asked. 'I don't know, we managed to handle it, she left.' I told her walking into the room. 'Yeah Ross said you did. Thank you for that.' She thanked. 'So you're not mad?' I asked her and she shook her head. 'Why should I be mad? She is obviously insane to come and try to get Ross back. It would never happen.' She told me and I nodded, 'good, now dinner is getting cold, let's eat.' I said leading the way.

Ross, Kim and I cleared up from dinner since the others cooked it and we were all washed up and done by half eight. Katie and Trott were upstairs sorting out Katie's website for her jewellery, Ross and Kim were in the sitting room and Smith and I were in the living room. We were watching some film on Netflix and just enjoying each other's company, I was holding one of his hands with both of mine on my chest with his arm around my shoulders.

Our film had finished by half ten and I had had to nudge him awake twice so I made the call to go to bed. I said good night to Ross and Kim and followed Smith upstairs and into our room by which time that sleepy feeling had vanished. We both got changed, 'you know what you did for Ross today was awesome.' He said taking his shirt off. 'He is a friend, friends stick up for friends.' I told him taking my trousers off. 'You did the right thing, she is a manipulative bitch.' He said, 'you know about the whole trying to take him away thing right?' he asked I nodded, we had paused the getting changed thing. 'She was always making him take her places, buy him stuff. We were ready to record when we lived together ages ago and she just shows up and expects him to take her to a club she wants to go, he tells her he isn't in the mood and she says he doesn't have to come just drop her off and pick her up. When he tells her no she tells him that he has to choose between Trott and I which is his career effectively or her. Because he was so madly in love with her he agrees and when he comes back he apologises to Trott and I but looks like crap. That's what she did to him, made him feel like shit, made him feel depressed. She was horrible to Trott and I too but that was over shadowed by what she was doing to Ross.' Smith ranted on getting very emotional about the whole thing. 'Well if she comes back she is insane, there is not a hope in hell that she will get in-between Kim and Ross. And if she tries there are a few people who would oppose I am sure of that.' Smith agreed and we carried on getting ready for bed.
