Imagine being with Damon but Elijah tries to break you two up.

You and Damon had been dating for a while now and everything seemed to be perfect, perhaps that's why it seemed to be almost too good to be true. He was extremely protective of you at all times which you found quite sweet, however sometimes it did get a bit much when you were with friends.

Although you didn't mind the overprotectiveness too much at the moment as you'd been warned that the Mikaelson's were in town by most people who knew who they were. You'd only heard bad things about one of them, Klaus.

Everybody seemed to fear him to the point where they would spend their entire lives running from him, this did intrigue you though. You wanted to see what was so scary about one guy, apart from the fact he's the Original Hybrid.

Damon had always halted your curiosity by convincing you that the family were bad news, but you wouldn't believe it until you see it. You'd always argue back at him that it seemed Klaus was the only sibling that anybody talked about, the other ones may be different to him.

"Can't you just leave it?" Damon groaned as you rolled your eyes at him.

"Sorry I was just interested." You mumbled and sat down on the couch next to him, you pouted at him as he sighed and wrapped an arm around you.

"They can't hurt you as long as I'm here, so you have nothing to worry about." He spoke making you smile at his words.

"I'm not worried, I'm interested." You laughed lightly and got up to grab your bag.

"Where are you going?" He asked as he narrowed his eyes at you.

"Out with Caroline, having a girls day." You spoke as he nodded and rolled his eyes.

"Okay, but be safe." He smiled and got up to kiss you, you kissed back and smiled up at him. You always felt safe with Damon and you hoped that never changed.

"I will be, love you." You laugh lightly before heading towards the door and opening it, just as you close it you hear his reassuring words.

"I love you too." He spoke making you beam from ear to ear as you walked towards your car.

You met up with Caroline in the town square, she smiled widely when she saw you coming.

"Hey y/n!" She got up and embraced you in a bone crushing hug.

"Hey Care! Ugh can you stop crushing me?" You mumbled as she let go of you causing both of you to burst out laughing. "It's so good to see you, I mean without any drama going on. It's nice to have a calm day with nothing to worry about."

"I wouldn't speak too soon." Caroline frowned slightly whilst looking over your shoulder at something, you turned to follow her gaze. A man was walking on the other side of the square, he was tall and had dark hair.

"W-Who's that?" You asked confused at why Caroline had froze at the sight of him.

"Elijah." She whispered as if so he wouldn't hear. You furrowed your eyebrows and racked your brain for where you'd heard the name before.

"What's so bad about hi-"

"Mikaelson. That's Elijah Mikaelson and we should really be going somewhere else so come on." Caroline cut you off and spoke increasingly faster, almost stumbling over her words. She motioned for you to join her as the two of you turned away from the original vampire and walked into the other side of town.

You'd been walking around and talking for a few hours with Caroline, it was good to just have a girly catch up with her. You both said goodbye before you headed back to your car that was parked back by the square.

As you turned a corner, you came into contact with someone's chest. You looked up to be met with the tall frame of Elijah, up close his features looked sharp yet he still looked good looking. You mentally slapped yourself because you shouldn't say another guy was good looking whilst you were with Damon.

"I'm s-sorry, I should've l-looked w-were I was g-going." You stuttered really badly and tried to walk away but he stopped you.

"No no it's fine, it was my fault too." He spoke to reassure you, making you breathe out slightly. "I don't believe we've met before, I'm Elijah." His accent and overall tone to his voice was extremely posh.

"I'm Y/N." You smiled politely back at him, now you really couldn't see why people were so afraid of him. You were interrupted from your thoughts by your phone going off, signalling that you had a text from Damon. "I'm sorry I have to get going, my boyfriend wants me home." You spoke without thinking and watched as his jaw clenched slightly.

"Well then hopefully I'll see you around." He smiled and nodded at you as you smiled back and continued to walk to your car.

It had been a week since Elijah introduced himself, you'd seen him around the town and always smiled or waved at him. He'd return it but some days when you were out with Damon, he wouldn't really acknowledge you.

It was the weekend and you were heading to the grill to meet up with all of the girls for a meal, on your way there you saw him again.

"Oh hi Elijah." You smiled at him as he returned it politely.

"Hello Y/N, you shouldn't be walking around in the dark by yourself." He spoke quite protectively making you frown slightly.

"No ugh, I'm okay. I was only walking from my car to the grill." You shrugged it off.

"Well if I was Damon, I'd be a bit more protective of you. There's all sorts of people out here at night." He said making you raise an eyebrow.

"What are you trying to say?" You asked quite confused.

"Oh nothing, just that if I was with you then you'd feel much safer." His words made you laugh slightly, was he really trying to convince you to date him instead of Damon?

"Really? I don't know you that well Elijah." You responded trying to let him down gently.

"And how well do you know Damon Salvatore? Do you know the things he's done in the past?" He spoke a bit louder now causing you to take a step back.

"We've spoke about it and I told him that I don't need to know unless it concerns me." You responded and stood your ground, however you then realised that you were trying to stand your ground against an Original Vampire and realised how pointless that is.

"It doesn't sound like you're happy with him tho-"

"Elijah don't ever tell me I'm not happy with Damon because I love him so much. Nothing you say can change that because I've known you for only a week, I can't really trust you that much." You finally snapped and spoke quite harshly shocking the both of you.

"Well then... I best be going." He spoke whilst coughing awkwardly, he straightened up slightly and turned on his heels to walk away. You stood there breathing heavily for a moment before collecting yourself and walking towards the grill.

"Wow I didn't think you had it in you." You heard the familiar voice of Damon chuckle from behind you. You turned around and raised an eyebrow at him.

"I told you he's not as bad as people made him out to be." You responded cockily as Damon walked towards you and wrapped his arms around your waist.

"I know, he's worse." Damon replied making you laugh. "Stealing other guys girls right off the street." He joked making you laugh lightly.

"Oh you know I'd never leave you for him." You spoke and wrapped your arms around his neck in a tight hug.

"And that's why I love you." He smiled and so did you as you both stood there in each others embrace.
