Damon: You were simply trying to get home from the shop, you'd been in dire need of some milk. Considering the fact that you were the only human out of your friends, apart from Matt, the job of buying food seemed to fall onto you.
Swiftly you walked down the pavement, excited to get into the warmth of your house and out of the brisk night air.
A sudden whimper coming from a small doorway suddenly sounded, causing you to jump slightly as you stepped back to see what was happening. Stood not so discreetly in the dark alleyway was Damon, his head buried in some girls need. In the half-light you could see tears rolling silently down her face, mixing with crimson blood on her neck.
"Damon?" You questioned as you cautiously approached him. His head shot up and his dark eyes glinted in the street lights. Carelessly he dropped the girl, who had taken her final breath, to the floor and tilted his head to the side as you approached. "Damon is that you?" You squinted as you walked very slowly, your hands starting to tremble in fear.
"Y/N? Damon questioned as he stepped into the light, illuminating the amount of blood that stuck smeared on his chin and dripped from his lips. "Y/N what are you doing here? You don't need to see this." He muttered.
"I -I, I thought you were trying Stefan's diet?" You questioned carefully, Damon took another step forward as your breathing stopped momentarily.
"Yeah...it wasn't working out." He shrugged, you were still slightly in shock that he'd kill someone and was so chilled out about it. You'd never seen him kill before and it very much frightened you. "What's wrong?" He questioned, seeing the fear in your eyes, either that or he could hear your thumping heartbeat.
"Oh...uh n-nothing." You shrugged. "I've just never seen you k-kill before." Your voice trailed off as Damon's face formed into one of realisation.
"Oh...y/n I'm really sorry." He sighed and stepped forwards to hug you, however you took a step back. You pointed to the blood on his chin as he nodded and stepped back.
"Sorry I just..."
"Don't be sorry Y/N, you shouldn't have seen this." He muttered as you nodded. "I'll meet you back home in half an hour, we can talk about it properly then if you'd like. I just have to...you know..." Damon gestured to the carnage on the ground below as you nodded again.
"O-okay...I'll uh- see you in a bit." You shrugged awkwardly before stepping out of the alleyway and swiftly walking down the path, trying your hardest to get the image of the dead body out of your mind.
Stefan: You knew all about Stefan's coloured past, the red that stains most of it. However that was the past, the only thing Stefan kills these days are Bambi and thumper's. This was a well known fact and you were extremely proud of him for keeping his bloodlust under control for so long, it looked incredibly hard at times.
You were walking down the road towards your house when you could suddenly hear the sound of an engine behind you, however unlike all the other cars it didn't drive past. But instead seemed to stay the same volume, as if it was trailing behind you. Although you didn't dare turn around to see if you were right or not.
Instead you decided to stop and pretend to be tying your shoes, surely enough a car stopped next to you as the driver realised that you'd stopped. Your heart was thumping hard in your chest as you thought about what to do next. But then you heard the car door open and close.
