Imagine being friends with Katherine in 1864 and falling in love with Damon.

"Are you sure that it's safe here?" You questioned your best friend from across the enclosed cart. You knew what Katherine was, she'd turned you after all. However you also knew how risky it was to live in such a close confinement with other people. Especially when the town was on high alert for 'creatures of the night.'

"Of course it is Samara." Katherine chuckled as you pulled onto the track that lead towards the immaculate white mansion.

It stood tall and proud, surrounded by lush green gardens with freshly trimmed hedges and cut grass.

You stepped out of the carriage after Katherine, surveying the landscape in front of you. Two guys stood at the top of the large steps leading up to the grand house. The one on the right had a mop of floppy brown hair and brown eyes to match, he looked around your age. The guy to the left looked like his brother but with darker hair and a few years older.

"Come on Samara." Katherine smiled at you, shaking you from your thoughts as you nodded and began to walk towards the house. Katherine's hand maid, Emily, walked behind you quietly.

"I'm Stefan." The first brother kissed your hand delicately as you smiled at him, he returned it warmly as you introduced yourself.

"Damon, it's a pleasure to meet you." The second brother bowed slightly before kissing your hand too. His smile seemed to be slightly more devious, less innocent than Stefan's.

Katherine had told you about the Salvatore brothers, how they were easy on the eyes and very welcoming. She hadn't been wrong one bit, you thought with a smile as they led you inside.

You just prayed that she wouldn't use them too much, they seemed like nice people here. You knew all too well how manipulating Katherine could be, why else would you be here if you didn't? She used people for her own gain yet you didn't want her to use the brothers.

"Here's your room." Damon smiled as he placed the bags of yours that he'd carried upstairs on the bed. Stefan was off showing Katherine to her room, leaving you with Damon.

"Thank you, it's very kind of you to let us stay in your home." You smiled as he shook his head.

"It's alright, in fact it's nice to have company other than Stefan and the servants." Damon admitted as you laughed.

"You must have a lot of company, I can't imagine any girl in Mystic Falls who wouldn't want to spend time with you." You laughed as he chuckled and looked down.

"It's usually my brother who gets all of the affection." He admitted causing you to raise an eyebrow.

"I think Katherine already has an eye for him." You murmured quietly so she wouldn't hear as Damon laughed.

"Really?" He asked, sounding slightly disappointed.

"Well whatever Katherine wants Katherine gets." You shrugged and began to open one of the bags.
