"the drive-in closing, it's just one more nail in the coffin that is riverdale. no. forget riverdale. in the coffin of the american dream. as the godfather of indie cinema, quentin tarantino, like to say-" jughead ranted
jughead, kevin, betty, veronica, madison and andrew were all at pop's
"please, god, no more quentin tarantino references." kevin said
"what? i'm pissed. and not just about losing my job. the twilight drive-in should mean something to us. people should be trying to save it." jughead said angrily
madison put her hand on jugheads shoulder and his anger faded under her touch
jughead was sitting by the window with madison next to him and betty next to her and on the other side of the booth was kevin by the window and veronica and next to her was andrew
"in this age of netflix and VOD, do people really want to watch a movie in a car? I mean, who even goes there?" veronica said
"people who want to buy crack." kevin said
"and cinephiles and car enthusiasts, right mads?" jughead said looking to me
"of course." madison said nodding in agreement
"anyways, its closing because the town owns it but didn't invest in it. so when an anonymous buyer made mayor mccoy an offer she couldn't refuse-"
"anonymous buyer? what do they have to hide? no one cares." veronica said
"I do." jughead said
"also you guys should all come to closing night. I'm thinking american graffiti. or is that too obvious?" jughead said
"me and andrew will be there, right drew?" madison said looking to andrew who was chewing on his onion rings but then stopped
"oh yeah." andrew said sarcastically
madison kicked andrews ankle under the table
"ouch! okay fine i'll come."
"I vote for anything starring Audrey Hepburn or Cate Blanchett." veronica said
"winona ryder or a julia roberts movie." madison said
"or the talented mr. ripley." kevin said.
"betty, your choices?" kevin asked as everyone looked to betty who seemed distracted
"everything okay, B?" veronica asked
"yeah, yeah. i'm just thinking. um... maybe rebel without a cause." betty said causing her, madison and jughead to laugh
"here you go, kids." hermione said passing us our food
"thanks mrs. lodge." madison and andrew said
"thanks mom." veronica said
hermione then went over to get cheryl money for the food
"be sure to put all that cash in the register. you are a lodge, after all. and lodges are known to have sticky fingers." cheryl said to veronicas mom
"cheryl." veronica said approaching her
"honey i got this." hermione told her
"cheryl i went to school with your mother. she didn't know the difference between having money and having class either." she said walking away
then the bell dinged
"now, that's an odd combo of people." kevin said causing jughead, madison and betty to turn around
it was mrs.grundy, archie and fred
"i'll be right back." betty said
"no betty don't." jughead said reaching over to grab her but failed
"oh boy." madison said
"what is that about?" andrew questioned
"nothing." madison and jughead said
betty and archie went outside to talk
"what's going on out there do we know? is it about me?" veronica questioned
"i have a strong inkling and no. also i'd let it go." jughead said
"yes but you're you and i'm me. you do you girl, i'll be back." veronica said going outside
madison sighed and placed her head on jugheads shoulder and he smiled at her
"what was it like before she got here? i honestly can not remember." kevin said as madison let out a soft chuckle
"well i'm going to see what's going on." andrew said
"oh my god you and your music teacher are having an affair." veronica asked archie
"i'm sorry what was that?" andrew questioned
before archie could say anything alice cooper pulled up in the parking lot
"get in the car betty, now." she demanded as betty let out a sigh and got in the car
"you're in it deep this time archiekins." veronica said
"come on before you turn into the hulk." veronica said to andrew as she grabbed his hand and brought him back to the booth
"andrew looks angry." jughead commented as madison saw his expression
"oh god this won't end well." madison said
"so how long him and grundy?" was the first thing andrew said when he sat back down
"since the summer." jughead told him
"that son of a bitch." andrew said under his breath
andrew was about to get up when veronica placed her hand on his arm
"let it go." she said quietly as his angry slowly went away
