lee minho had been caught in the rain.
late at night, the air smelling sour and harsh as the rain made the ground wet, soaking into the grass of the night.
his steps became delayed as he stared at his phone, wondering where he was as it was hard to see past the heavy rain coating his vision.
"chan, i'll text chan." minho mumbled to himself, letting go of a tight breath as he drew the contact up on his phone.
in the meanwhile, he sat down on a soggy bench he found just outside of a convenience store that had just closed from the storm.
his freezing fingers texted chan, as he sent his location to his friend, kicking his legs out of boredom as he waited a reply.
minho: hey do u know where i should go from here location, i got lost in the storm
it didn't take long to get a simple reply from the other, who was happy to help, yet minho knew he probably also laughed.
channie: oh yeah, just go straight and look for the bridge
channie: you should know how to get to your home from there, correct?
minho: correct, thanks
he quickly shut off his phone, but instead of getting up immediately, he sat under the protection of the extended roof for a bit longer.
his thoughts lingered bout the rain. he knew he would get soaked, no matter what kind of umbrella he would've brought. there was noting he had though, he had no idea there would be a storm tonight.
he only went out to get milk, and that turned out to be a big mistake, because there he was, in the middle of a rain storm with milk in a plastic bag with two or three snacks he also regret buying.
he knew he couldn't escape the inevitable, so he stretched and stood up, pulling his black hood over his head and began walking straight.
it was difficult for him to understand his surroundings as well as someone like chan would, or even any of his other friends could.
minho had only moved to his new house two months ago, and because he had been so focused on unpacking he barely got out enough to memorize anything outside of his house, resulting him to ask for help all the time.
yet, he was working on it.
minho waited at the green light, hoping it would turn red soon enough for him to cross quickly.
the rain had hurriedly made it's way past the thick fabric of his hoodie, soaking him in a mere second as he began to cross the street.
"ugh, gross." minho mumbled to himself once more, already feeling groggy and uncomfortable as his black jeans then began sticking to his legs and thighs.
by this time the rain had at least managed to calm down, still falling down hard but enough for minho to at least see in front of him.
it was clear there were no cars or any living person walking among him on the sidewalk or street. of course there weren't people out, after all who would wanna be out in this weather?
the boy walked alone until he saw the familiar bridge he walked across before. underneath was beautiful waters, a long distance away, yet they were always calming to look at.
from there, minho could definitely mark his way home. he past this bridge plenty of times in order to understand where he was.
he smiled regardless of the water practically melting off his body at this point- and continued his soggy steps forward.
he had put in music in his ears, pressing play on any random song once he made it halfway across the bridge, looking at his own footsteps and swinging the plastic bag in his hands.
however something changed his actions.
after about a minute of turning on his music, he found himself turning it off just as fast as he did putting it on.
he paused and stopped his walking from seeing something- no someone.
it looked like a figure.
a figure of a person, sitting on the top of a wired fence, which was there to prevent any accidents- yet there this person was sitting on top of it.
'how unsafe,' minho thought to himself, hesitant to continue walking straight, but doing so.
it was only a few seconds more before he got close enough to see this person more clearly.
the person was a boy, it was easy to tell as minho slowly drew closer to the boy getting soaked in rain.
yet the only thing the boy was doing, was staring down at the ocean beneath him, eyes appearing dilated and focused as minho was now a few feet away.
minho couldn't see any emotions on this boy- from his side view at least.
he put down the plastic bag onto the concrete, creating a sound which ultimately caught the boy's attention, startling him and immediately looking directly at minho, who's mouth was slightly agape as he slowly put his phone in his pocket.
they locked eyes.
the rain continued pouring down on the both of them, dripping from the boy's hair, down onto his face before hitting the floor. minho was lucky enough to at least be wearing his hood.
yet it was that moment when minho realized the dry tears on the boy's face, and his seemingly blank eyes and felt his depressed aura, which could've practically sent chills down minho's spine.
he just felt so stripped of emotion or feeling, or any sense that this boy was alive even.
his blank eyes continued to look into minho's confused one, as minho finally snapped himself out of his state and opened his mouth to speak.
"uh.. hello." he said, to which the other just continued to look, unphased practically.
"hi." his voice was shaky yet bare at the same time, and then he finally just looked away from minho and back down in front of him, down at the water.
minho couldn't help but analyze him- his face soft yet distinctive. almost like a puppy.
the question of why this boy was here finally came to minho, yet he hesitated to ask it.
