Chapter 12

My eyes feel like a billion pounds. Just trying to open them feels hard.

I wake up to nurses putting oxygen on me. To say I'm confused is an understatement.

My throat feels like it was ripped out of my neck so even if I wanted to talk I don't feel like I can.

Not to mention what I think woke me is the intense pain running from my back to my rib cage.

It hurts so bad I can feel the tears running out of my eyes and I'm too weak to even bring my hand up to wipe them away.

The nurses leave the room.

In walks Tessa she walks over to me and gives me the biggest hug.... "I love you so much, You have no idea how scared I was...I'm so glad you're okay." She says to me.

She notices the tear running down my eye "are you okay, what's wrong?" She quickly asks as she wipes them away with her hand.

I motion to her to hand me the paper and pen on the table next to me.

I barely have the energy to write but I woke up with the urge to mess with her. I write who are you? On the piece of paper.

Her face drops and she gets up and walks out of the room....before I can tell her i'm messing with her....oops.

She comes back in with my mum, Vance and a nurse or a doctor. I don't know who they are...

My mum comes up and grabs my face and kisses my head about 100 times and keeps telling me how scared she was, and how happy she is I'm okay.

Mind you I'm still confused...but I DO know who Tessa is.

"Hey bud looking good." Vance says as he grabs my hand and pats my arm.

"Hi Hardin, I'm Dr. Carlson....I wanted to check In on you." The doctor says to me.

I try to talk "okay" kind of comes out.

"I'm just going to ask you a few questions...can you tell me what year it is?" She's asks me...and I realize I really did it. They think I lost my memory or something. Which maybe wouldn't have been so bad....but I fucking remember everything.

I grab the paper and write 2019.

"Perfect, can you tell me what you do for a living?" She asks.

I write DJ.

"So why doesn't he know me?!!!" Tessa yells.

I manage to get out her name and say "Tessa" out loud.

"You know who I am?" She asks.

I just nod my head with a smirk. And you can tell she's relieved yet pissed realizing I messed with her.

"Looks like you are in good spirits Mr. Scott." The doctor says to me.

"Mhmm" I respond.

"Can you tell me your pain level 0 being no pain-10 being unbearable?" The doctor asks.

"Nine" I tell her.

"Okay I don't want to keep forcing you to answer a bunch of question but I will put an order for specific pain medication and you should be feeling better soon. And we will just continue to monitor your breathing." The doctor tells me

"Okay." I respond

"I am going to let your family have some time I know they have missed you. I'll come back in to check on you a little later." Says Dr. Carlson.
