"So where are we going?" Shine asked Wally once they finally got a good distance form Campus and could just breathe the air without feeling watched.
Wally held up his new ID. "There's definitely a tracking chip in this," he said.
Shine nodded. "Definitely, I was wondering if there was a bug too."
"I don't think so. Bugs are easy to damage," Wally said, "Heck, I'd just have to drop it wrong. A chip's more durable.
"So, where are we going?" Shine repeated.
Wally smirked. "I have a plan. We don't want them to figure out we know about this just yet. Let's give them something to wonder about, eh?"
"Wally, you're being really cryptic, and that's my thing," Shine folded her arms, "I really wouldn't mind a walk down a boulevard at the beach if it meant I wasn't being tracked. What kind of stuff do you want to do to mess with the staff?"
"Just follow me," Wally said.
"Uh, babe, I can't do that," Shine said.
"Oh, right, here climb on." Wally scooped her up like a kid.
"Are we going a long way? Normally you just do the rescue-princess hold," Shine said, grabbing on.
"Wow, you're good. Just sit tight, this it'll be a bit bumpy." Wally struck his running pose then took off. The glow of the Speed force that was only viable if you were really close to him surrounded them. Shine could still see what was around them; they were going under the speed of sound but not by much. Without the Force, she'd have been flung off, but it acted as a shield to her, so she didn't get blinded by the rush of air.
[My personal preference for their ship theme song]
Shine didn't recognize the place they ended up. But she thought something about it looked familiar. Also, it wasn't lighted at all. It was destroyed.
"Where is this?" she asked.
Wally put her down. "I looked at some maps online on my break. It was a little tricky getting the language settings to work...but this is Kamino Ward. All Might's last stand. Also, I guess Bakugo was here. I watched some news coverage of it."
Shine was impressed. "Look at you being all crime detective," she said, "Does it feel good to be back, baby?"
"Yeah, it does," Wally said, way too seriously, "I'm about to lose my mind doing nothing at that school. I mean, I like Eri and all, but--"
"But you need to be in action," Shine finished.,"I know... but should we really be here? Isn't this place technically off limits? Plus, it looks really suspicious..."
"Where's your sense of adventure?" Wally poked her, "Don't tell me all the bureaucracy has gotten to you. That's what makes it interesting. I want a closer look at what happened, and no one wants to tell us what the deal with that creep All Might fought really is, or what the LOV really wants, so we need to investigate ourselves. I have some more locations too."
"Wow, you were busy," Shine sighed, "Okay, I'll go along with it..." She pulled out her sword and lit it up faintly. "Let's see what we can see."
A search of the wreckage didn't reveal much left to see. Some huge dents from the destruction, that Wally knew were from energy blasts (he'd dodged them enough to know), but there wasn't much else to see... Shine found streaks of what looked like dried blood.
