Part 155: Hey, Brother. Hey, sister

Shoto was pretty nervous about the visit...so nervous he asked Momo if she wanted to come.

Momo was surprised.

"You want me to come?"

"Well, you were there when Shine found out about Touya. It just kind of feels right if it comes full circle," Shoto said, "and Fuyumi likes you...and for some reason, Dabi does too... I just thought it might be better."

Shine choked on a laugh. "For some reason? I think you could have phrased that better. Don't you like her, Shoto?"

Oh, she was so getting it later! Shoto glared at her. "What I meant was he doesn't like anyone."

Momo blushed. "I think he's making fun of me, actually."

"Oh, no, he likes you," Shine said helpfully, "He only talks about people he likes that way. Besides, he's told me you're not so bad. Guess the Todoroki boys have a type."

Shoto glared at her some more, but Momo only thought she meant they liked nice people, since she'd met his mom.

"Stop it." Shoto pulled Shine aside before they left. "What are you trying to do?"

"Give you crap," Shine said.

"Well, stop! I'm already going to have a hard enough time coralling that jerk without you making it worse. I thought you were supposed to be helping me."

"Oh, trust me, Shoto, I am." Shine smiled smugly. "But I wanted Wally to join us. He told me he had to go out and run an errand. He wouldn't say what though... It was a little odd... So, sorry, if you wanted the nice moral support, it's out."

"You can be nice, if you'd stop trying to... I don't even know." Shoto was flustered.

"All right, I'll try to dial it back a little, for you, sweetie," Shine said, real sugary. "But hey, if you think this is bad, Touya will be worse."

She wasn't wrong.

When Dabi saw Momo he said, "Aren't you being too ambitious? Taking her to meet the family the same day I come back from the dead?"

"Actually, she's already met them." Shoto was clueless.

"Oh, well, then we're announcing the engage--" began Dabi. Shine kicked him. 

"Knock it off."

"That makes me uncomfortable," Momo said to Dabi severely. 

"It does?" Shoto gave her a worried look.

She reddened. "I know he's just doing it to be mean."

Shine slapped her forehead. 

"Well, let's go. Fuyumi decided we should come over there-- less chance of someone walking in on us there. Not that they would anyway, but I don't trust Bakugo and Camie not to eavesdrop, so I guess it's for the best. Natsuo will be at college, and your dad will be at work... If you're okay with it, Touya?"

"I'm not," Dabi said, "but I don't want her here. If she catches on, I'm in big trouble. So I'll endure the crippling childhood memories that no doubt will be coming back."

Shine sighed. "I'll pray for you, and maybe they won't. You know, if you decide that before we even go over it--"

"--Makes it more likely. Yeah, you've only told me like 3 times," Dabi said, "and since I barely agreed to do this, I'm not really feeling it."

"Fine." Shine gave up. "Momo? Ready?"

"I really feel like I have no business being there, but I'll support Todoroki," Momo said loyally.
