"What should we get?" Hagakure asked about lunch.

Likstar glanced nervously at one restaurant. "Um, not anything too weird, okay?"

"Well, what's weird to you?" Jiro asked.

"Um, sushi, anything really hot, and anything I don't recognize."

"But, Likstar, won't that be everything?" Tsu pointed out.

Likstar moaned and slumped. "Then you pick."

"I'm sure we can all agree on something." Yaoyurozu glanced around.

"Oh, look, there's some of our classmates!" Hagakure waved. Of course, she was hard to see waving, but Ojiro finally noticed and waved back sheepishly.

"Are you guys going to get lunch or what?" Sero asked.

"Yeah, you should join us," Uraraka said.

"Wally'll want to," Likstar muttered, "I wonder where he is."

"Oh, I think he went off with Kirishima and Kaminari," Ojiro supplied, "Probably to some sports supply store."

"I think I'll try to find him," Likstar mused, "but first, where are we gonna--?"

"Oh, I've got it! There!" Mina pointed. "A buffet! Perfect for everyone." The girls and guys all agreed to that.

"Fine, you go on. I'll catch up," Likstar said.

"You sure you should wander off alone?" Yaoyurozu asked.

Likstar nodded. "I'm a big girl. I think I can handle walking across a mall." She power walked away.

"Um, do you think we did something wrong?" Uraraka asked.

"Probably she just wants to try finding her way around," Tsu said pragmatically.

"Yeah, don't worry," Mina said cheerfully, "Let's go."

Yaoyurozu hung back a second, though. Likstar had seemed a little anxious to get away, and she wasn't sure she was supposed to let her go off alone at all. Why was she...? Could all the attention be making her uncomfortable? Or did she not like being watched by them? Perhaps Tsu was right and it was nothing.

A few texts later and most of the class had joined them at the buffet, even Bakugo, though he wasn't really hanging out with anyone. Todoroki didn't join anyone's table until Midoriya and Iida arrived, but everyone else was chatting--or nodding, in Koda's case-- as usual.

Likstar finally came back with West, and the two guys and seemed fine, but she was quiet. West was way more animated, discussing moves and training experience with the guys.

"So, all your training is on the job?" Kirishima said, amazed.

"Mostly," West replied between bites, "We practice at the base. That's like an agency--" (he explained to the girls and guys who clearly had missed some prior conversation where he'd been told about those) "--and work-out, but most of us with pow--quirks learned how to use them on the job."

"But isn't that, like, insanely dangerous?" Kaminari asked in amazement.

"Well...it can be," West shrugged nonchalantly, "but a lot of us learned young, practicing in open spaces, like my buddy Supes, so he couldn't hurt anybody. Once we start fighting crime, we already know some tricks, but you're learning all the time. You have to think on the spot. Especially with my pow--quirk. It has so many applications." Some of the students nodded to this. It was familiar.

"So, you don't study at all?" Midoriya said, like it was incomprehensible.

West drank a soda before answering (it took him two seconds to do this). "Depends. Bats, my friend, studies everyone. And Q also-- knows everything: their weaknesses, strengths, temperament, gadgets, enemies, all of it. But neither of them have powers. And Diana, another friend, she trained for decades in combat but used her powers very little till she joined us. Then Shayera-- she always did both. Plenty of powered people train themselves. No one else knows what your power feels like, so it's hard to give you pointers. Each power comes from a different thing. We're born with it, or we have an accident, or it's entrusted to us. All that effects how you learn to use it."
