Nothing like a grandchild to put you in your place. The 16 year old has continually reminded me in her own little way that I can no longer do what I used to be able to do. I am getting on up there, and I need to start waiting for her to come over and I don't need to get tired or wear myself out. She will do the laundry, I don't need to be lifting that heavy basket, yada yada yada.

I just keep saying yeah, ok, you do that, in the mean time I'm going to struggle to get dressed every morning and hopefully won't have to have any help doing it. Basically just appreciating the fact that she cares, now get the hell out of my way I am only 66 not 106.

Then she sees pictures of the two new great granchildren.

She swirls around and looks at me and says Oh God, you are a GREAT grandmother. I think you and Poppy need to come live with us, so I can take care of you.

I just looked at her and said Babe, I am only about an hour older than I was when you got here.

Poppy tells her, she pushed her glasses up, watch out, she's gonna blow up.

So I take a deep breath and say Heavan, I like you and your mom and Jacob living in another town, I love it when you come to visit, but I love it more when you go home. I don't need a baby sitter, although I am sure you would make a good one, go find a baby and sit with it. Now stop it with the 100 year old treatment, I have a ways to go before I get there. Your aunt LaJeanne is 85 and raising a 10 year old, my family lives a long time, we may not be able to win a foot race, but we can still take care of ourselves.

She sits there a minute, turns around to her poppy and says, ok, you need to start coming to pick me up at school every day, so I can come over here and help Granny in and out of the tub, and cook dinner, then you can take me home afterwards.

He says girl, I'm 70, she's only 66, and you have me driving 100 miles a day 5 days a week. Who's going to help me in and out of the CAR much less in and out of the tub.

She kind of shivered and said, Oh Poppy, I love you but I'm not going anywhere near the bathroom when you are in there.

I hope she doesn't miss the bus waiting on him to come pick her up, LOL.
