Being Unobservant

Soooo, the SH and I have had an hour long discussion this morning, not because I am unobservant, but because I don't care if I am unobservant.

First thing this morning with coffee is, what time does it get light, we need to take the trash out.

Blank look on my face, I have no clue what time it gets light.

You have to, you worked Saturday and Sunday, was it light when you went to work?

HMMM, I don't know.

How can you not know if you drove to work in the dark?

My car has these weird things called headlights, they come on all by themselves, so it would be light even if it was dark.

Yes, but not on the sides, when you looked to the right or the left, was it dark?

You have been married to me for almost 40 years, have you ever even one time seen me look anywhere other than straight down the road?

Really irritated now, he says, you are just being hard headed.

So of course I have to say, you are sitting right next to the patio door, if you really want to know if it's light, open the damn drapes or for a real thrill you can turn on that huge spotlight over the garage and light up the whole street.

Now I'm going to pretend I didn't hear what he muttered under his breath as he went out the door to take out the trash, but he let me know he knew I heard it because when he came back in he said we need to start over, I don't want to have to be worried for days about how you are going to get me back.
