So the granddaughter wanted to know if her girlfriend, another 16 year old could come and spend the night. Sounded good to me, and she seems to be a very nice young lady.
On the way home from picking her up, I noticed that she has this laugh that sounds exactly like wind chimes. Oddest thing I have ever heard from a teenager, but first thought is, this is wonderful. I love the way windchimes sound.
By the time we drove 40 miles back home, I was kind of thinking that maybe windchimes going off continually in the car is not quite as pleasing as it is to walk outside and hear them but it could be a whole lot worse. I have heard teenage laughter that sounds a whole lot more like braying animals than it does like musical instruments, so I can deal with windchimes.
Then we get home, and I am really glad that Poppy doesn't hear well. Until I realize that apparently the sound of her chimes are exactly the right tone and he can hear them VERY clearly. Luckily, in my head, I think, he doesn't know where they are coming from.
The neighbor is taking them out to the club to go swimming and when they get back, they will be in the back room and he won't be asking too many questions, we can get through this just fine. The girls walk through from the back room to go to the kitchen and naturally they are giggling. The Sweet Husband looks over at me and says who in the hell is ringing a bell? I try to explain quietly, that it's not a bell, its the girl laughing. He can't hear me, I don't want to scream, so I write him a note telling him I will explain when the girls leave to go swimming.
He reads the note, and the girls walk back through the den headed for the back room and naturally they start laughing again.
He looks at me, looks at them, and as soon as they get out of the room, he says first, explain to me how that girl swallowed those bells and she isn't in the hospital and they are still ringing. Then tell me how her mother is going to react to them being removed.
Gonna be a long night.
