The SH and the Bird Nest

Apparently, if you can hear, you forget that not everyone in the house can.

Some birds have made nests in our chimney. At times they are extraordinarily loud. I have been able to just ignore it, because I don't want the sweet husband trying to get rid of their nests. First, because they may have eggs in them and second, it's the chimney, he doesn't need to be trying to climb on the roof.

I honestly didn't think about him not being able to hear them, occasionally he would glance in that direction when they were making noise, I just assumed he heard them, but we didn't talk about it.

Tonight, I finally snapped, it was just at a bad time.

The SH had been to the bathroom and was coming back down the hall, and right before he got to the step down into the living room, he bumped the wall. The birds went crazy, louder than they have ever been.

I threw my hands over my ears and screamed Dammit, I can't take it anymore.

He threw up his hands, screamed Dammit, missed the step stumbled halfway across the living room, by then, I am collapsing laughing, just as he gets to the recliner, he managed to grab on to the back, but came damn near flipping over it.

He falls down into the recliner, holds his chest and yells what the hell is wrong with you?

I apologised for scaring him, then told him that the birds were making me crazy.

He didn't say anything, but every once in awhile I would see him looking at me. I almost started talking to one of Sheryl's invisible people, like they were sitting on the couch, but I managed to hold myself back.

I waited until they started up again, and walked over to the glass thing in front of the fireplace, unlocked it and said, Randy, come here. He got up and came over there, and I asked him to lean over and listen and he could hear them.

He put his arm around me, and said I don't know what scared me the most, you screaming and making me fall half way across the room or the thought of you seeing birds in the living room.
