I woke up this morning not feeling very well. The youngest daughter and her husband and the granddaughter were here all weekend, the grand has a cold and apparently I caught it.

For some unknown reason they all seem to think that if I don't feel well, I am cranky.

First, the sweet husband lays that chair back, closes his eyes and says, It's gonna be a long day, tater.

I, very politely, ask him what the hell does that mean?

He never opens his eyes, but replies, ain't nobody going to do anything right in this house, not today.

Then Sheryl walks through headed to the kitchen, and asks him what is wrong. He says, mama don't feel good today. She says, tell your men to wear full gear Sargeant.

Sheryl saluted the sargeant, did an about face and marched back to her room. The sweet husband sits in his chair, eyes closed and says, why, at almost 70,am I still a sargeant?

Helpfully I tell him it's probably because you don't know when to just keep your mouth shut.

I have a feeling he's right, it's gonna be a long day, tater.
