Part Forty-Seven
Sang's POV
"What did he say?" Dr Green prompted me again. He looked tired, dark shadows under his eyes, and a slightly more rumpled look about him.
"He knew that I know it was Tim who drugged me. He wanted me to go ahead and press charges," I said.
"And?" Mr Blackbourne was sitting with his hands clasped on the desk in front of him.
"I told him that I couldn't go through it all again. He said that Tim had blamed the boys for it but that they had watertight alibis. He said that Tim accused two teachers of having an affair with me."
"Did he name them?" asked Mr Blackbourne and I blushed as I realised I might have made a mistake.
"Um... no, he said that he made a mistake in choosing two gay teachers that were living together and I er... well, I said your names."
Dr Green snorted and ran both hands over his face, but said nothing.
"Did I do wrong?"
"No," Mr Blackbourne spoke up. "No, you didn't do wrong, in fact you did exceptionally well, Miss Sorenson, you answered the questions well. I expect it will all go quiet now."
"How do you really feel about what Nathan did?" Dr Green asked and propped his elbows on the table and his head in his hands. He yawned and I frowned.
"You've not slept yet, have you?"
"I had the graveyard shift at the hospital," he said and smiled at me. "I'm fine, Pookie, I'm heading off to the nurses room for a sleep in a minute; taking my boyfriend with me so he can run triage for me."
I giggled a little as Mr Blackbourne rolled his eyes.
"Yes, well, just don't go expecting me to hold your hand walking the corridors," he snorted.
"Answer the question, Pookie, tell us exactly how you feel about Nathan's actions," Dr Green said.
Where did I start? What did I tell him.
"Did you hear what I told him?" I asked and they nodded.
"That's pretty much it. It took me by surprise and made me question a few things...." I looked away. I had never told them what Volto had said to me in the car, and over time, his words had faded. Until Mr Hendricks had told me what had been done to Tim's back.
The overhead bell rang and I jumped slightly.
"Damn!" Mr Blackbourne shook his head. "Never enough time."
I got up and went across to where my bag was.
"Miss Sorenson." I heard Mr Blackbourne get up and I looked back at him.
"You detention has been wavered, I believe you are working a shift at the Diner after school this week,"
I nodded at him and bit my lip. I could tell that he hadn't finished with me yet. He stepped forward and his eyes held mine.
"I understand that you felt you needed time to think. We were worried when you didn't do as we asked. We had no way of knowing what he'd said or asked of you."
"Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't think," I said. "You were worried that he might have been getting me to admit it was the boys. I'm sorry I should have..."
"No, Sang!" Dr Green shook his head and stood up.
"We were more worried incase he upset you, Miss Sorenson. We can look after ourselves, but we were unable to look after you while he had you out there."
