Part Eighty-Eight

Sang's POV

I opened my eyes, pain radiated from the back of my head through to the front making me groan. For a few minutes I couldn't get my bearings, the ceiling I was staring at was strange, but I could hear a commotion, sounds of fighting and it all came rushing back to me clearly. I struggled to my feet and pain ripped through my stomach.

"Gabriel!" I ignored it, surging to my feet and stumbling towards the bed. I looked towards the doorway but could see nothing but blood smeared down the door and the wall. I checked Gabriel's pulse and although he didn't move, it was strong under my fingers and I could see he was breathing. Relief speared through me, I searched for my phone, picking it up from where I had dropped it. I moved towards the broken door clutching my stomach with one hand and opening Dr Green's app with my other hand. I looked out to see Nathan struggling with the taller man, but I had to stay with Gabriel.

"Sang!" I heard Dr Green's voice and I put the phone on speaker, my head was throbbing but I had to keep it together.

"We're almost there, what's going on? We can't get hold of Nathan or Gabe and you weren't answering either!"

"Some guy has attacked Gabriel, he's tied up and unconscious on his bed," I said and tried to loosen the ties around his wrists, but they were cable ties.

"I can't get them off. They're cable ties!"

"Sang, is he breathing?"

"Yes, yes, he is and his pulse feels regular and strong," I said, trying to stamp on the panic that threatened to overflow me.

"Find something to cut the ties with," Dr Green ordered and I looked around, this was Gabriel's room, there had to be scissors here somewhere. I rifled through his art desk and found a pair. Rushing back to him I cut them free.

"Try and wake him up, call his name," Dr Green called. "But don't move him."

I settled beside his bed and stroked my fingers through his hair.

"Meanie, Gabriel, wake up, come on wake up, Meanie, please," I begged him but he made no movement at all, and icy fear filled my veins.

"He won't wake up!" I called out and I could hear the edge of panic in my voice. Nathan came into the room and straight across to the bed.

"Where is he?"

"Fucker got away," Nathan said, his lip was split and he was covered in blood.

"You're bleeding too," I cried out.

"Nathan, are you hurt?" Dr Green's called out.

"No, it's not my blood," Nathan said leaning over Gabriel.

"Gabe, Gabe, mate, come on, bro, wake up!" he moved his hand over his head carefully. "Why won't he wake up?"

"I don't know."

"We're here!" Dr Green called and he switched off his phone. Nathan jumped from the bed and went out to meet them, I stayed with Gabriel clutching his hand, which felt cold and clammy.

"Gabriel, please, wake up, Meanie," I whispered into his ear, kissing his forehead. I was careful not to move him or touch him too hard.

I heard running feet and then Dr Green was coming into the room with his bag. He sent me a wan smile as he leant over Gabriel, lifting his eyelids.

"Where were his hands?"

"Tied behind his back," I said letting go and sitting back slightly. I looked up as Mr Blackbourne came into the room, his face calm but his eyes were a dark silver with worry.
