Part Eighty-Nine

Sanag's POV

Gabriel was on the sofa in the snug, he had wanted to set up in Mr Blackbourne's office, but Dr Green had put his foot down and told him sitting at a desk was not resting.

Nathan, Kota and Silas had been roped into sitting on the floors with their laptops so that all Gabriel had to do was look over their shoulders as he sat on the snug with his legs up and another laptop resting his legs. Victor was sat on the other sofa, apparently trusted enough to be allowed to sit where Gabriel couldn't actually see his screen unless he turned it towards him.

Mr Blackbourne was sat with Victor but he was watching CNN and Bloomberg again. North and Luke were playing cards with Dr Green on the floor and I was trying to read my kindle, but it was making my head feel worse.

I gave up and instead spent the time watching my boys. If I had been told last year that I would be sitting in a room full of gorgeous boys over Thanksgiving, I would have laughed. Add on the fact that I love them and they love me? I would never believe it; but here I was. Surrounded by my family. It had taken me a long time to believe that maybe they really did love me; I think a tiny part of me will always be unable to believe why they chose to love me. But I was selfish now and I would do anything to stay with them.

"Mr B," Victor murmured his name and turned the laptop slightly to show him something. Mr Blackbourne looked towards the screen and I studied them both unashamedly. They were dressed casually today, well as casually as they could get. Victor had black slacks on, a white Armani shirt that was rolled up at the sleeves, he had a white undershirt on and I could just see it at the opening of his shirt. Mr Blackbourne was in grey slacks and red socks, his shirt was an off white and I think it was Armani too, he too wore a white undershirt.

Victor was supposed to go back to Gabriel's from his parents yesterday but that had all changed. Instead he had gone back to Kota's and then later North, Silas and Luke had all gone to Kota's and they had stayed the night there. I don't think one of them had wanted to leave the hospital, but there was nothing they could do and their families expected them at home for Thanksgiving. I had stayed with Gabriel, he had shifted up in his bed and Mr Blackbourne had helped me on beside him. I had fallen asleep next to him, happy knowing that he was ok. Mr Blackbourne had stayed with us, reading a financial newspaper. Dr Green had taken the chance to check up on some of the other patients.

Eventually, just before dinner, Dr Roberts came back with Dr Green. Dr Green must have texted Mr Blackbourne because he had lifted me from the bed and into my chair five minutes before the door opened.

I had waited outside with Mr Blackbourne while they had checked Gabriel and then he had been released. They had made him sit in a wheelchair too and he had tried to get Mr Blackbourne and Dr Green to do wheelchair races with us both but they were having none it.

By the time they got us home, we were all hungry so Mr Blackbourne cooked up a quick lasagne and we had that with salad. There had been a short discussion on what was going to happen to Peter, Pam's ex, but it seemed that the Academy were going to handle all of it. Mr Blackbourne didn't go into details and Gabriel didn't ask him. I had wanted to know more, but Gabriel had been reluctant to talk about it, which made me wonder if he was really ok with what happened. I had caught Dr Green's eye over the table and he seemed to know what I was thinking because he shook his head at me and told me to leave it.

Gabriel had wanted to stay up and watch TV but we'd been ordered to bed by Dr Green and I had gone, glad to rest my aching head. I had been conscious of Gabriel's side, but he told me not to worry. He had kissed me, and I saw exhaustion in his eyes, his body still feeling the after effects of the drug. We had slept back to back, it was more comfortable for me to sleep in a curled up position and he slept with his injured side up. But we had pressed together and feeling him close had helped me slip into sleep quickly enough.
