Thank you so much for all your votes and comments. I read each comment and you have no idea how happy they make me, so thank you for taking the time to let me know how you feel about this story.
I may have mentioned that Sang was close to waking up, and she is, but it's not tonight.
I hope you enjoy this one though. By the time Sang is fully lucid again, I hope to have done at least a little bit through each of the boys eyes.
Silas POV
"Efharisto' poli', North," I whispered. He was asleep and I knew he couldn't hear me, but I needed to tell him. I needed him to know how thankful I was that he had saved her, that he had brought her and himself back to us.
I had just come back from sitting with Sang. We were taking it in twenty minute stints through the night. She had made no more progress, although her fingers were squeezing upon request now which made the Doc ecstatic so it must be a good thing. I think of all of us, he was the one who had held it together the best. He was a doctor, he was trained in these sorts of things, he undoubtedly knew things that none of us did. He would have known all the complications that could happen, the worst case scenarios, but he had kept a brave face on it. I think because he was a doctor, it would have been harder for him knowing that he was unable to do anything for her. I expect as soon as she was transferred to our hospital that he would be taking a far more proactive role than he was able to do here. I knew he was constantly reading her charts but he was unable to....
"I was going to die with her."
His voice made me jump from where I was sitting beside him, my head resting on the covers on my arms. I sat up, looking over at where Luke was fast asleep in the other chair. Kota and Nathan were with Sang, the rest of them were in the cafe.
"What?" I saw him looking at me in the half light of the dimmed room. It was nearly three in the morning.
"She was trapped," he said, his voice rough still. "Her belt was trapped, if I couldn't free her, I was going to stay with her, I was going to die with her, I wasn't going to leave her."
I closed my eyes, the thought of losing both of them was almost too much... but he had freed her and I had them both still.
"But you did free her, brother," I told him, the constant lump in my throat made my voice croak slightly. "And for that I thank you. If she had died, if you had died... I don't know how I would have gone on, North. You got her out, you saved her, you saved her, North!"
"And if she's brain damaged from it?" he asked and I saw the tear run down his face, he swiped it away angrily and glared at his cast arm.
"Doc said it was unlikely, at least nothing huge," I told him quietly. "North, even if she is, she's still Aggele, she's still our Sang, we'll do what needs to be done. If she needs looking after, we'll do it, all nine of us. Together, we'll do it together." And I meant it, there was nothing I wouldn't do for my Aggele.
He nodded and I reached out and clasped his good hand.
"I owe you my life, North, I've owed you my life for years now, you keep saving me."
"I just did what each of us would do," he said. "None of us can live without her now. I was dying inside... I knew, I know... I mean... I know we all said we'd share her, but I was so scared that as we got older her feelings would change, that she'd prefer you, or the Doc, or Gabe over me. I'm overbearing, I know I am, I frustrate her trying to keep her safe, damn, fucking didn't work this time though..."
"North...."
"It doesn't matter though," he cut me off. "I mean I won't let it matter. As long as I can stay in this family and I can have whatever she gives me... fucking hell, there's no dignity in that is there? I love her so much it hurts, Silas."
