Part Forty-Two
Kota's POV
"She took a tablet and is fast asleep again," I told Mr B, the Doc, North and Silas. We had the two ipads up and was using Facetime to converse with the others on their ipads.
"What did you have them give to her?" I heard Silas ask the Doc.
"Just sleeping tablets, Silas, it'll knock her out till morning and she shouldn't dream."
"Report, Mr Lee," Mr B ordered.
"Hendricks had given them the newsletters to collate, so Gabe tied and gagged Bennett and we finished of the newsletters. Hendricks will have no idea they didn't stay there the whole hour. Bennett had called Hendricks, impersonated an officer and told him his wife had been in an accident and was in the hospital. That was why Hendricks left the school pretty quickly. We took Bennett out to the park and gave him a few cuts and bruises..." I looked up at Nathan who had his arms folded, his face set.
"Nathan cut him quite badly," I said and stopped again. I had no compunction to what he had done, but Mr B might not see it that way.
"How badly?" Mr B demanded.
"He carved the word "blackmailer" across his back, not enough to make much blood loss but enough to leave a scar."
"And I'd fucking do it again," Nathan spat angrily.
"Good one, Nate!" North called out. He was beside Mr B who was looking across at Dr Green, it was weird, because we had four ipads set up, two each, as they sat side by side so when Mr B looked across at Dr Green, he was looking across at him on the other screen. It was like having them actually sat there.
"Well done, Mr Griffin," Mr B said softly. "I said scars and I meant it, but that was inspired."
"Yeah," Nate ran a hand down his face. "Inspired by a film," he admitted and we all knew which one.
"Why didn't you do his chest, like in the film?" the Doc asked quietly.
Nathan swallowed and looked away and then looked back at me. I nodded at him.
"I tried, but I couldn't do it, I hate him. I hate the fucker, but when it came to doing it, seeing his face, his eyes. I lost my nerve."
"No, you didn't, Nathan," the Doc spoke up. "You didn't lose your nerve. It's what separates the good from the bad, Nate. It was impersonal on his back. If you'd have been able to look him in the eye as you carved his skin up, I'd be really worried about you now. You'd have lost a little bit of your soul."
Nathan sighed heavily and nodded and his posture relaxed and he leant forward. Gabe put his hand on his shoulder.
"See, told you so," he said.
"Why didn't you put rapist?" North demanded. "That's what the fucker is!"
"I was going too," Nathan said. "But Luke said it might point the finger at Sang or us because of what she accused him off."
"Good thinking, Mr Taylor. Besides come Monday everyone is going to know exactly what he is. Carry on, Mr Lee," Mr B said to me.
"We dumped him at the skatepark. There was no one around. We used gloves, stripped him to his boxers and then we left. We burnt his clothes and ours at North's and then came back here. We stayed with Sang who was already asleep, while Vic went back to the school with Luke. There was no camera in the room they were in, but Vic went through the other security cameras footage and erased all of the images that had us and Bennett in it. He looped it back with footage he had of Bennett and Sang walking those corridors separately and he inserted it into the footage. If anyone goes back over the night's footage, they will see Bennett leaving after an hour and then Sang following a few minutes later."
