Sang's POV
I was beginning to think that being good looking was a prerequisite to getting into the Academy. I had fifteen good looking guys all crowded around in the family room. Nine of them, my guys, were drop dead gorgeous, but Axel Toma's team came a pretty close second.
I had already met Marc in the hospital and I had briefly met Axel when he had come over to talk to Mr Blackbourne after Blake had kidnapped me. I knew Brandon and Raven from the other day, but now I had met the rest of their team. I liked Corey, who was Brandon's identical twin and I mean Identical, if it wasn't for the fact they wore different clothes and smelt differently I would struggle to know which was which. He was talking with Victor at the moment and I knew they were going over the communications set up as they both had laptops set up in front of them.
Kevin was the last member I met, he was tall, dark skinned with tight curly black hair that I was pretty certain would make a fabulous afro if he were to let it grow. He was quiet, like Silas, and I noticed that the two of them had buddied up by the window and were just watching Raven and North who were currently arm wrestling. I wasn't sure why, but it looked like they were evenly matched.
We had gone over the plan with a fine toothed comb and everyone knew what part they were going to be playing. But Mr Blackbourne being Mr Blackbourne wanted to go over it all again as he clapped his hands to get everyone's attention again.
"Mr Taylor, if you could stop holding Mr Ravenstahl's hand for just a few minutes more," Mr Blackbourne said dryly, making me choke on the coffee I was drinking. Axel, who was sat next to me, patted my back helpfully as North snorted loudly.
"He's missed me, Owen," Raven smirked. "What can I say?"
"Yeah, like a hole in the head," North grunted. "You're just relieved because I had your puny Russian ass whipped!"
"Whatever ass whipping you gentlemen get up to together in private is fine, but could we concentrate on the issue at hand," Axel spoke up and I giggled into my cup. He looked at me sideways, a grin playing around his lips. He looked as if there was Native American blood in him, his nose was long and ever so slightly hooked at the bridge, his eyes were almond shaped and the blackest I'd ever seen eyes, his hair was pitch black and hung in straight stands to his chin, parted in the middle.
I wondered what he'd look like with feathers in his hair and a spear in his hand. He had seemed very severe and stern when he had first come in and it wasn't hard to see him riding a horse into war, complete with war paint.
I began thinking which tribe he might be descended from. I raked my brain to think which tribes were local to this area. My tribal history was distinctly lacking but I did remember hearing that Cherokee were in South Carolina, but there were also lots of smaller tribes as well.
I heard a throat being cleared and I blinked, flushing as I realised I must have been staring at him because he turned his head towards me fully, his smile growing as I'd sat daydreaming!
"Is there anything you'd like to add, Miss Sorenson?" Mr Blackbourne's voice was cool and I blushed heavily realising I'd been caught in my daydream by the others as well.
"Or any questions you have?" Axel added, and once again my brain to mouth filter failed in my embarrassment.
"Cherokee?"
I slapped my hand over my mouth the moment it slipped from between my lips as I burnt a dark shade of red and prayed for the ground to open up and swallow me. I could hear sniggering but I was mortified.
"I am so sorry, that was so rude of me...." I blurted out from behind my hand.
"Yemassee," he said gently. "My ancestors come from not far from here in the county of Jasper, by the mouth of the Savannah River." He smiled at me and turned even more. "Are you familiar with the tribe?"
