Bit shorter tonight, sorry, but it split nicely here. Thank you so much for keeping with me. It means a lot to me. :)

Sean's POV

Nathan was one step ahead of me through the door, shouting out when it seemed to quiet.

"Hey, doc, reckon he's killed her and is burying the body in the back garden?" Victor asked me from behind.

"You're joking right." I heard Luke slap him as I stepped into the kitchen, but it seemed.... oh! I turned sharply, blocking the door.

"Give us a minute," came a shout from the bedroom and I saw Nathan blink and then look back at Victor.

"He doesn't sound like someone who just killed his girlfriend," he sniggered and I couldn't help the snort that left my mouth, but the arrival of a very wet, partially naked Owen took their attention.

"Is everyone here?" he asked casually, as if walking out of the bathroom with nothing but a towel around his hips was an everyday occurrence. I lived with the man and very rarely saw him like this.

"North needed to fill up his truck and Gabe is getting the food with Kota," Nathan said and moved towards the family room as if seeing Owen like this was also an everyday occurrence. Our family is excellent at denial when it wants to be, but there was no way I was letting him get away with it.

"Sang ok?" I asked casually and was rewarded by a glare.

"She's perfectly ok, we took the opportunity to try the shower while it was quiet," he replied. Yeah, I bet you did, I thought but kept quiet.

"Was she ok?" Nathan asked as they headed towards the family room.

"Yes, she was, I believe she's starting to work past her issues," he said seriously, that was a good thing.

"Football or racing?" Luke shouted from the living room and he went forwards quickly.

"How about homework," I shouted to them and was rewarded with a laugh.

"Yeah, yeah, we will, later," Luke called and I heard them start to squabble over the games.

"I'll just get dressed," Owen said and made to move back into the bedroom.

"Owen, a word please," I said in my best "Doctor" voice. He frowned at me but came forwards all the same. I stepped back from the doorway, drew him inside and then shut the door behind us and leant against it.

"Sean," he said, facing me, his eyebrows drawn together in a frown. "I won't let you lecture me."

"Good, but you might want to erase the evidence before North and the others sit down to eat," I said as sternly as I could manage without laughing.

He blinked and then looked at the table in horror.

"Oh my god," he muttered. I watched with glee as he rushed towards the cupboard for some cleaning gear.

"You should be ashamed of yourself, Owen, people have to eat off that table," I told him sharply, happily watching as he started to clean the table.

"People", he said with asperity, "should eat off plates."

"Not the point," I declared, "I take it you didn't use protection."

"Sean!" He stuffed his glasses back onto his face and turned to glare at me, the table spotless again.

"Well? Do I need to think about emergency contraception?" I inquired, even though I knew she was protected by the implant and it was the wrong end of her cycle. I know some people got caught on these things, but it's extremely rare and I was confident that she would be safe as long as she isn't on any antibiotics, which she isn't.
