Part Seventy-Two
North's POV
I spotted the ring on her finger straight away and smirked. I looked away and saw Silas moving into the room from where he had taken her coat. I caught his eye and he sent me an answering smirk.
Sang was telling us about the food, and what she had tried and which parts she had loved. The others were hanging on every word she said, but I was just content to know she was back and she was safe.
I knew that Silas had that ring for her, I had been with him when he bought it. I also knew that he had done some extra work for his father to get the money to be able to pay for it. He'd been pretty worked up over it though, worried she wouldn't like that. But she obviously had.
Apparently it had been Nathan's idea, the promise ring. I think normally promise rings were for saying you'd stay a virgin until you married someone, or something like that. Too late for either me or Silas and I don't think Nate had any plans on waiting till he'd marry either. We talked it over, Silas and I, we knew the possibility of her marrying was tricky. I had told him what Anderson and his team had done - each of them having a ceremony with their bird, but obviously she wasn't married to all of them legally. With Sang being a ghost bird it made it even harder to think she'd ever marry any of us. It would mean exposing her to the authority and Mr B wasn't about to do that. It may be our biggest pain in the ass, Academy wise, but her being a ghost bird was also our biggest asset according to him.
I saw her yawning as she perched on Silas lap and I knew it wouldn't be long before she was fast asleep. I looked over at Luke and made a split decision.
"C'mon, Luke, I'll drop you back home, I forgot to pick up my History Essay," I said. He looked at me and opened his mouth to tell me Kota was taking him back, but he caught my eye and shut it again. I had planned on getting him to bring it with him tomorrow, but this was a better plan.
"Are you sure?" Kota spoke up.
"Yeah, I need it for tomorrow," I told him and got to my feet. I walked across to Sang and kissed her and then fist bumped Silas. I quickly took hold of his hand in mine and he looked up at me. I lifted an eyebrow and he got my unspoken message and I saw the thanks in his eye. I grinned at him and let go of his hand so he could stand up.
Luke was my brother, but Silas was my brother in arms, my best friend, my comrade. I don't remember a time when Silas wasn't part of my life. Even long before Mr B got him out of Greece and over here for me. We had always been together. We had formed a blood pact when we were seven and I had known then that I would do anything for him. But I had never imagined that we would fall for the same girl. At first it had angered me, that I would have to share her. But now? Now I saw the advantage. I was able to have the best of both worlds. I could keep the one girl that my entire world revolved around, and I could keep my best friend as well. And when we were older, I knew that we would all live together. What had at first seemed like hell was actually a blessing. I was going to have my cake and eat it and I was the luckiest bastard alive.
I was going to give him an hour or so to show her how much he loved her. I would hold back a bit to let him take her across to her house, give him as much time as possible and then I would grab Luke and leave.
I had thought that knowing someone else was touching her would twist like a knife in my gut. But it didn't. If it was anyone but my brothers? That would be different, but knowing it was them? She was safe, she was loved. I loved her and I loved my brothers. I was happier than I ever hoped to be.

Sang's POV
I unlocked my bedroom door and went in with Silas behind me. I made my usual check around to see if Marie had come in, but the fact the door was still locked told me she probably hadn't. She didn't usually bother to relock it, she thought it was her right to be able to come and go as she pleased in my room with my things, but it didn't go the other way. I knew she was in her bedroom, she had cracked her door open slightly as I had come up the stairs, but when she saw it me she had slammed it shut again.
