I came up with a LOT of ideas for this, and this is a longer one, so I hope you enjoy.

Oh yeah, um, whenever I sat the word "fountain" in this chapter, I'm referring to something along the lines of the the Great Fairy Fountains from The Legend of Zelda.
Just wanted to clarify that! On with the chapter!

There's an interesting story you've been told, ever since you were born.

A legend that explains where the Humans came from, and why the world is covered in darkness.

A very, very, long time ago, there were three beings.
The Sun, the Moon, and the Stars.
With their powers together, they created the Earth.
The Sun created light, his radiance bringing light to the void.
The Moon created the land, his tears creating the rivers and oceans, allowing life to thrive.
The Stars created life. All life on Earth was created by her. Humans, Animals, and of course...
Gods.
She created the Gods to watch over us, and keep the peace between us.
One day, though... out of nowhere, the Gods declared war on us. They believed they were meant to be the sole inhabitants of Earth.
We stood no chance against them.
Though, there was one God that defied the others.
The God of Protection. He knew his place, and wished to protect us.
He fought on our side, and using his powers, sealed away the others in their fountains.
We knew he would one day betray us as well, so we attacked him.
Fearing our power, he sealed himself away in his fountain, never to be seen again.
And just like that, Humanity won the war.
After that, the Sun, Moon, and Stars disappeared.
They were disappointed in themselves for creating such horrible things... those Gods were meant to protect us, not betray us...
They left to hide in their shame...
Leaving Earth in eternal darkness.

That legend dates back... at least ten thousand years.

You've never seen the Sun, the Moon, or the Stars...

You want them to return some day... you've heard they were beautiful.

But that'll probably never happen. At least, not in your lifetime.

Whenever you hear that legend, you can't help but wonder... why did the Gods just attack Humanity like that?

From all the other legends about them, they don't seem like they wanted to be the sole inhabitants of Earth...

Oh well, it happened ten thousand years ago, so I guess you'll never find out...

There's a forest on the outskirts of town.

Nobody is allowed to go in.

You, though, being the troublemaker you are, wanted to explore it.

So that's exactly what you did.

Once night fell... er, since Earth is in eternal darkness, I guess it's technically 'always' night, but you understand. Anyways, once night fell, you snuck out to the forest.
